What do yall think of this? I think the idea is sound, but their 'plan of attack' has them meditating 5 minutes at a time in 3 spots... Does that seem oddly short to anyone else? Seems like they should go for at least 15 minute segments, but maybe they are trying to stay accessible for beginners..

Anyway, I'd definitely try to make it to that if I lived in NYC.:)

Looking around I found an interview with the organizer of the event, see here (http://www.realitysandwich.com/a_public_display_meditation_in_manhattan).

The SelfCentered Tour is a new-school consciousness movement designed to bring a fresh vibe to meditation, breath styles, and other awareness tools. Unlike the old interpretation of ‘self-centered’ (perhaps egotistical, crazy stressed, constantly struggling, and totally overwhelmed), a modern day selfcentered person is authentic, grounded, balanced, and awake.

Our vision is to inspire one million people to get selfcentered by using the tools daily.

They sound pretty rad to me

Actually, just managing to meditate for 5 minutes is difficult for most folks at first, and yet it can be very soothing and calming and healthy.

It's the new version of the "sit in" from the 70s, I love it!

That sounds like how it was on Kauai, no one considered it in any way out of place or strange, it's just the way things were... I really miss that little island

That is a good point you make Lunacie, I sometimes forget that 5 minutes can be all it takes.
