Well I'm looking at getting my Yule menu organised a bit in advance, and I was wondering, which would be a better choice for Yule. Chicken or Pork? Yes, I'm in the Southern Hemisphere, so Yule is our next Sabbat.

I would say, from a purely seasonal perspective, pork.

That depends on how many people you're expecting to feed and what their preferences may be. What are your preferences? Personally I never opt for pork, particularly after microbiology class a few years ago. But even before that, I just don't work with it since two of my children never touch it. It makes one of them very sick to eat it and the other one just doesn't want to eat it for other reasons. A roast chicken or two would be very nice with some saffron rice, don't you think?

I often go with ham. Chicken we have a couple times a week so to us it's not a holiday type thing. Year before last I made corned beef. I'm hoping for a goose this year.

For me it all depends on the money situation, sometimes it is Chicken other times it is ham.
But to answer your question I say pork.... ? :)

Pork stuffed with fruit (dates, blueberries, raisins, apricots or whatever you choose but dates are kinda a must due to the sweetness which goes awesome with pork.. whatever you choose go for a balance between sweet and tartness... mostly sweet) and served with a cranberry, apple and brandy compote.... you want the compote a bit on the tart side to counter the stuffing

pork sounds really good...
maybe with pineapple :)

I'd likely do chicken myself as I am pork-inept.
