Goddess and God,
Please take into your arms the soul of that kitten I found dying in the street. For a few weeks, you gave it life, that little golden puff of fur. Now I send it to you... It meowed it's last at me, it's neck broken by some asshole in a car, who never cared to stop and help, or slow down to avoid cutting your little life short. The full moon watched helplessly as this happened, and I know that the gods cried as I did, when you took your last breath, and your heart beat for the last time. Bless this soul, and give it a life of solitude in your arms.

Oh no :( I knew I shouldn't have read this thread...now I'm bawling my eyes out here.
I'll be lighting a candle to light the way for the little kitten back to the arms of the Goddess.
Blessed Be.

Blessings to you Kaylara ...

The kitten will be back, life is a circle. That is the good part about this.

I know that the kitten will be back, and at least it didn't survive getting hit by the car for too long. But when I saw this little fluff ball laying in the street, I got really upset. This kitten couldn't have been more than three weeks old. It was so little, and when I kneeled down next to it and whispered "kitty?" it let out a little meow, and then it's eyes rolled back in its head. A car was coming down the road, so I picked it up and brought it to the side of the road. It's neck was broken, and it was still very warm, but I listened for a heart beat and heard nothing. :( I was so upset, I started sobbing over this little thing in my hands. I placed it in a position where it looked like it was just sleeping, and left. When I got home, a half hour later, I was still crying over this. I don't understand how people can do this. My sister hit a deer this past winter, and called the police... She was already hysterical about it, but after the cop shot it, he looked at the deer and said "This one is pregnant." Which of course made my sister go into even more hysterics. She was having nightmares for weeks about this mother deer, and her baby.

I sit back, and wonder how someone could kill a baby animal, and feel no remorse, not even enough to stop and move it out of the road so that it didn't get splattered across the road... Sometimes, I hate being a human. These hands that could heal so well, all too often, hurt all of our fellow creatures, and our world. And besides the pagans I know, and enviromentalists, it seems that no one else cares... "Animals have no souls, it doesn't matter, it's not like it was a person..." But we are all one, and I feel the pain of these suffering animals as vividly as if I were going through the same thing as them. Empathy is such a mixed blessing, sometimes I feel like I have the weight of the world on my back.

Sorry for ranting...

You are so right, all to often our hands hurt instead of heal... We can all heal, but only a few of us does it though...

That poor little kitten, life is a circle, but still it feels cruel that it never got to live a long life this time... and surely someone misses that little kitten... however it was a blessed kitten in a way, because you did find it in its need, and you were there for that little kitten in its last minutes...

I will do a blessing and a rite of release for this kitten. It's so heartbreaking to see what happens to many of our animal friends on our dangerous roads. Even more madening is that some irresponsible person didn't take the time to spay/neuter their pet which contributes to the number of strays roaming the roads. I'm sorry you had to experience that Kaylara. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

This is a blessing that I do for every fallen animal I come across as I am driving each day. Take a few seconds to visually draw a pentagram over the image of the animal. Then picture a little door opening up just next to it with beautiful bright light just on the other side. Then picture the animal as whole and happy as it rises and leaps through the door. Picture it in a beautiful garden surrounded by many other wonderful beasts. One of my kitties passed away 2 years ago and since then, whenever I do this blessing I picture my kitty with a little crown on her head greeting all these released souls and welcoming them to this beautiful place.

For our little friend:

Little friend
Forget your broken shell
It no longer serves you
May your spirit be free
Free from all earthly pain
Go on to the land of Summer
To the loving arms of the Goddess and God
So mote it be.
BE FREE!!!
