or 'How I learned to stop worrying and love the beast'
We will examine one of the basic tenets of Satanism in this series, which is the rejection of traditional Christian teachings which inhibit the true nature of mankind. That is not to say that to reject 'thou shalt not kill' one should kill as many people as possible. That would be irrational and foolish. So to better understand how the Satanist chooses to conduct himself (though there is nothing set in stone here, as Satanism is very much build around the needs and desires of the individual and not a 'herd' or 'flock') we will be examining the core ideals upon which Christianity and, as such, a large portion of modern day western 'morality' is based upon. Perhaps it will also help the reader to understand why Satanism rejects traditional Christianity almost as much as traditional Christianity vilifies Satanism.
So to ease us all in gently, I'll start with the simplest. Lust.
We will start with the meaning of Lust so that we may all be sure of which I speak. I will use the Wikipedia definition of Lust as I feel it to be the most applicable.
Lust is any intense desire or craving for gratification and excitement. Lust can mean strictly sexual lust, although it is also common to speak of a "lust for men", "lust for blood (bloodlust for short)" or a "lust for power", or other goals and to "lust for love". The Greek word which translates as lust is epithymia (επιθυμια), which also is translated into English as "to covet"
Christianity in it's most basic form was a very early method of control. With the Seven 'Deadly' Sins this provided the most effective way to subdue and suppress a society. The common man was not an educated man and so looked to the priesthood with reverence as scholars.
Lust is a strong desire for something, and it is your right as a human being to attain it. However, you must weigh up the costs in yourself before acting as with any action to deem worth. This is the difference between a Satanist and somebody with no self control. The Satanist knows his weapons, he knows what he is capable of and he knows and chooses when to deploy them. For example, rape is unacceptable to the Satanist mindset. Though the Satanist may have carnal desires for a woman, it is unacceptable for him to violate her to achieve his ends. Ultimately the rule when dealing with others is similar to Anne Rice's theory on vampires. The vampire must be invited before he can enter the home. So must another person invite themselves to be interacted with in such a way. This is also applicable to violence, but we'll cover that later.
So simply put, if you desire something. You have the right to take it. You should feel no shame in desire. You should feel no guilt for the most basic of human emotions. A starving man hungers for bread, should he feel guilt over his lust for food? Of course not.
Such is the Satanic perception of lust.
