View Full Version : Reverse Kundalini..or Something Else?

I've been experiencing these "energy vortexes" sproradically throughout my life, and the ones I've experienced in waking life were usually unexpected.
In a few times I've entered a half-lucid dreamstate while sleeping, the experience has happened unbidden or until recently, at my request before bedtime.
The physical sensation is similar to how Kundalini's described, but in my case, energy is entering from my crown chakra and flowing _down_ to the base of my spine. Other times I just feel the energy entering the top of my head, so my entire skull feels like a beehive. Is this the sensation of "fire in the head?"
The result of these experiences for me either acheive an illuminating spiritual or life path clarity, or at the very least a wonderful energy boost.
My personal take on this is that it's my Inner Self (Deep Self, Higher Self) connecting me to the Greater Source for some much-needed "upgrading." But since my meditation skills are negligable at best, I can't really prove this or be sure of it.
I'm trying to find the appropriate name for this experience, because a few websites describe reverse kundalini as a bad thing, but I certainly wouldn't call these experiences "bad" by any means.
So if it's not reverse kundalini, what have I been experiencing? :whatgives
Thanks To All Who Reply,
~ Heather
PS: I did post this also in Meditation, not knowing which forum was best. But I do believe this is an "advanced" topic.

I am thinking it is not reverse Kundalini.....Your explanation of it is what makes most sense...I beleive U would not sense that it was your higher self....connecting to Source if it were not real for U....U do not need to confirm it through meditation...Just know that U know....

A ceremonial magician would be able to disclose that what you're feeling might liken what they try to achieve in one of their rituals. (I remember reading about this in a book by Israel Regardi.)
They stand upright with their arms stretched sideways, like a cross. Then they envision the grace of God accumulating in a ball of light above their head, which then descends into the body through the crown chakra, leaves it through the earth chakra, and then engulfs the entire body.
They can use it to ground and power up for rituals that require energy work.

as for naming it...connecting to the Greater Source sounds good to me....so does powering up

I tend to think of this sort of energy work in terms of two energies -- the Earth energy that you draw up from below, and the Stellar (or sometimes Lunar or Solar) energies that you draw down from above.
I think I've seen two different energy flows, one up and one down, described in some chakra or possibly in Qi-gong books. The different energies have different qualities of course.
In my own practice I tend to think of the energy from below as the energy of the underworld, the faery realms below the ground. The heavenly energies are the upperworld and quite different from the underworld energies.
They can both be drawn through the chakras of course.

I agree there are many levels of energies to draw upon.....both above, below and within

Sounds a bit like reiki to me...
But honestly, Kundalini, Reiki, other names...it's just that, a name. Ultimately they all deal with the same energies, though people may get different "sensations" due to thinking, "this is Kundalini," rather than, "this is reiki," or, "this is my higher self."
It's all energy and intent, the rest is just frilly bits to make it easier, more exciting, more believable or whatever else.
Doing it unconciously is likely because the energy is there and your unconcious self, or higher self, realises the need to link to the energies around you and draw from them to, as you said, give you some much needed "upgrading."
Perhaps you'll begin to find meditaion easier?

From what others have posted so far I am thinking it's a little similar to the Two Powers meditation we do in ADF. It starts out like a traditional tree of life meditation in which the seeker draws earth energy upwards and then expands to the heavens and we draw sky energy down and the two meet within us. You say that you don't have the greatest meditation skills, so maybe starting with the script will help. It can be found here: http://www.adf.org/rituals/meditations/two-powers.html. There are mp3s available but I think you have to be an ADF member.
It might help to record it or have someone read it to you.

Point taken, Kailen. But names do help specify different phenomena. For example, when trying to make a life decision due to a current challenging situation, it helps to differentiate between one's intuition and ego. If I decide NOT to do something, is it because I got "bad vibes" or "felt it in my gut?" Or is it more of a fear-based decision where I don't want to look at some aspect of my life?
This is where it's important to be able to define the more subtle energies of the body and the spirit from each other. Otherwise it's too easy for someone not "in tune" with themselves to make a mistake.
Thank you, Xentor, Ben, & Parralax for enlightening me on disciplines which focus on this kind of awakening. I will check them out. And thank you Faerie Spirit for reinforcing the idea that we need to trust ourselves in what we perceive. It's too easy to doubt ourselves, sometimes.

Heather :
There are many differing energy streams one may tap into...
There are reasons for the different names...beginners often do not
know how to differentiate between them , so they lump them into
one pot , and say it is just intent...:uhhuhuh:
In the Tradition I am from , there is a column of symbols , which
by number sum , adds to the value of the words "inner light"...
The top symbol , equating to the level of the head , and which has
a meaning of head , is pronounced "Os / Oz"...
Vibrated repeatedly , it makes the sound of insects , or bees...
However , we also have an arrangement we vibrate , which creates
an ascending , or descending coil...
And "Os" , does mean "wisdomkeeper"...
Do check out the symbols , and meanings , in the Faery Tradition
Class , if you choose...you may find it interesting...
And , never believe there is only one energy , or current...:giggle:
The streams are many , and one , and are accessed by resonance
with that particular current you choose to work with...
Symbols , Sonics , Colors , Body Positions and Movements , as
well Visualizations , are all access devices for these differing
currents of energy...
As one grows in experience , knowledge , and ultimately wisdom ,
one realizes this...good fortune on your path...

Thanks Blackwolf. Even if I've never "seen" them, I always feel my chakras working when I tune into them.
I envy people who are able to make guided visualizations work for them. In the ones I participated in, I always felt that I was just engaging in glorified daydreaming. Heck, I can do _that_ at home for free. It was clear to me that I was just using my imagination and the beings I "met" were just stock characters in my mind I could put through their paces.
How _does_ one know they had a "true" visualization, where they engaged with their Deep Self or other beings that were NOT from their imagination?

I attribute my incredible imagination as part of why I have experienced so much spiritually in this life...and because I am not afraid....one of my first visions was...an entity which I believed to be Jesus Christ came to me...I was awake just had my eyes closed...did not see the entity just heard and felt immense feellings of Love, Security and Trust....the entity told me there is nothing that I have to be afraid of....then I saw like a movie film in front of me....the frames were going very slow so I could see each frame....I was seeing every thing I guess that my feeble mind could congure up that I might consider evil, mean, scarey.....and the entity that was with me enveloped me in total love and security I did not feel any negative feelings around seeing those weird things...and they looked VERY REAL...since then I have never feared anything spiritually.....
Was that a dream...my imagination...I do not believe it was so for me it WAS A VISION....it is for U to decide if it is real...no one can tell U it is not real if U beleive that it is....and no one can make U beleive if U do not....it is soul.y up to U my friend
