Chango is most arguably the most vibrant and forceful of the Orishas. He owns thunder and lightening and is the owner of the sacred Ana (his drum is the smallest drum, okonkolo which marks the rhythm for the other two drums.)He also owns the Makagua Bembe drums. These drums with their driving rhythms, exemplify Chango's power, passion, virility and warlike character. He is the king of Justice, a proud warrior/protector. His symbols are the double headed hatchet, the sword, the thunderstone. His colors are a balance of fiery red and cooling white. Story has is that Chango changed his gift of divination for the gift of dance with another Orisha. Therefore he is a master dancer too and would be considered the Casanova of the Orishas.
His numbers are 4 and 6
His colors are Red and White
His favorite foods are :cornmeal mixed with palm oil, okra, bananas, and apples
He drinks red Wine and despises cigars
Friday and the 4th of the month are sacred to him
He is a master Drummer
He is a master Dancer
Animals sacred to him would be Roosters, Rams, Turkeys, Turtles

I am not of this path or heritage, however, I had a dream that I was looking for a botanica. I found a set of statues of the Orishas and I selected one of Chango. Only Chango, though in this dream there was no question of money and I think I could have had all of the statues. I have only passing knowledge of the Orishas from listening to a podcast. When I woke up I remembered this dream very vividly. When I looked up information on the internet about Chango I found that he is invoked {?} for courage and strength, which is the subject of an ongoing spell that I have been working on for some time! I already have had a a section of my altar devoted to my ancestors for quite some time, with photos and crystal skulls. After the dream I set up another area with red and white beads, feathers,, a turtle, horse, red and white candles, red jasper and cowries, a mortar and pestle and peppercorns and a small piece of meteorite. Am I on the right track to honor Chango? I think I am supposed to work with this Orisha. What else can I do to properly honor Chango and learn what I am suppose to learn? I hope my question reflects the respect I feel for this tradition. Blessed be. RoseMoon13
