You know how you can still see a light getting brighter even with your eyes closed? Well, that's been happening to me lately. Why is that news? Because I meditate late at night right before I go to bed (not that it improves my quality of sleep or anything:rolleyes:) and I sit with my back to the only lamp in the room. But sure enough, after a few minutes it seems the light gets brighter and brighter, but only to a point. Then it stops and remains that way for the rest of my meditation. Once, I actually opened my eyes to see what was going on; nothing unusual, and the light wasn't any brighter than normal. So, I know the lightisn't really getting brighter; it just seems like it is. My question is why?

Light inside the eyes while the eyelids are closed is called phosphine. Its the random excitation of the retinal cells by the pressure of the eyelid upon the eye, and its completely normal. If it bothers you very much, I suggest meditating with the lids relaxed but still open.

It doesn't really bother me at all; I was just curious about what it was. Thanks for the info.
