discovering my spiritual guides

ok i have just recently been reading up on animal magick and such. well in a book i read it said one way to discover my spirit guide was through a dream and the mentioned about her panther totem invadeing her dreams...well i came to realize that ever since i was lil i had good and bad dreams of wolves and cats and i was wondering if this could be a sign?....

It is possible...pray or meditate on the animal...in my experience they come to you with a gift or way of life....if you feel it is your animal you need to work with the spirit of the animal not just know what it is and read up on it in a book...you need to have a personal relationshiip with the spirit of the animal...that is the only true way to know...in my experience

I have found the best way for me to contact them is through visualization and meditation skills,
By creating {visualizing} your own place in your mind I have found is one of the easiest places where you can meet your spirit guides for the first time, making them your friends talking to them asking them questions, you can also meet them in your dreams, try to remember what they say and write it down, Oh and yes of course you can have more then one.

I did have dreams about my animal guide, and then one day, there she was in my daily meditation, big as day and definitely letting me know of her presence. I didn't even really neccesarily feel like I would have any connection to any sort of animal spirit, or even if I neccesarily believed in that. I have since changed my mind. Its been an interesting process to say the least, but I've been seeing things alot more clearly since taking reiki classes and recieving my first attunement. Its awesome!

Something that might interest you..just after the long weekend in July of this year I was driving at night (about a 3 hour drive) I saw 3 fox...I just loved it as I do not see them very often maybe one every 5 yrs..(I live in the country) then about a week later there was a fox in one of my dreams....then there was a dead fox on the highway a mile from my house...at this time I thought something is up with the fox for me...I went to retreive the carcuss ( as I would skin it...use the claws..bones and skull) it was way too full of maggots so I put it in the ditch to get it later when it was more dried out...I went back and it was gone...I guess a cyote must have gotten it...then last might my neigbour came to my door and told me there was a fox hit on the road and was not dead...suffering...so I went and...you know...I prayed giving thanks to the spirit and layed tobbacco down....Now if I do not start working with the animal I need my head read...why I did not after the first one died I do not know...something interesting about the fox is that it can open up the realm of the fairies...so I can actually see them...I have beleived in fairies all my life....never seen one for sure....thought I did twice but not real sure...I am soooo excited to work with the fox...and when I truly see my first fairie for sure I will :boing::boing::boing::boing:go nuts.....Last night I visualized the fox...more to come....I will ask the fox as something just came into my mind...maybe I am suppossed to document my relationship with the fox to help those that are not sure how to work with an anmimal....I know these things are private yet I would not get the idea if there was no reason...I will ask spirit...

well in that case i too had an unusual encounter with a fox mabye u can tell me if it means anything....one night i was in the back seet of my big bros car with my lil bro Tim..well we where on the main street that goes through town and FAAAAAr away from woods or anything like that...and as we were comeing up to a street light i see something sitting so elegantly under the street light as we get closer i realize its a fox....my heart almost skipped a beat and i could believe my eyes after i right away asked if anyone saw the fox.......they all thought i was nuts and that it was just a cat....they had said foxes woldnt venture out this far....do u think mabye this ment something???

I would say because of the odds:uhhuhuh: of a fox being in your town that it could certainly be a guide....only through having a relationship with the spirit of the fox will you know if it is a long time guide or short...sometimes the guides are with us just for a short time....good luck...any time you have a question feel free to ask

Yukiperv, if you're still about, one thing I've found is that when you are adopted by a spirit animal guide, or if they come to you and somethign tickles at the back of your mind that this may mean something, research the animal well.

Study it's habits, it's cultural contexts. One very important thing is to learn and acknowledge any "negative" traits your animal may have. I have a strong connection with Ferret and the mustalid people in general (skunks, badgers, wolverines, etc.) but I know that skunks' ability to use their reputation to protect themselves can also frighten away those who aren't threats. Ferrets are inquisitive, bright and fun, but they also tend to get on a track and stick to it ("I WILL get in this closet! I CAN dig through parkay flooring!").

Also the situation you encounter an animal in can have meaning. On the way home from a good, but at times trying, camping trip with some others studying shamanism, I saw a tortoise, dead and on its back, being feasted on by buzzards. At the time, I had been too proud to ask for help in the camping set up, to admit that I was unprepared. My thick shell of pride and independence was of no use when flipped on my back by circumstance....

now that u say that 00 i do clearly remmember seeing a flame (like from a candle) light in my mind...( like i could see it but not with my eyes)...that is when i saw the fox under the street light...00 i must figure out what that ment...i cant believe i forgot that
