Illinois government sucks

It's not just Blagoiovich (Sp?), its a standoff between all the factions, and unfortunately everyone is suffering from it...

This is due to the current state budget crisis:

And its due to their power-posturing that there are so few jobs available, because the universities have not received their yearly funding yet....I don't know exactly how the approval process works, and I don't know if it applies to faculty, but I do know that a lot of state employees are being paid out of emergency funds right now because the state hasn't released the money yet.

Government officials: "Lets cut all these historical sites and parks (among other things) because we don't wanna pay the employees. Sucks too much out of our pockets."

Later....I imagine the line will go something like this:


G.O.s : "I wonder why we aren't getting any money from the tourists this year. Stupid feds, now we've lost all our tourists due to gas prices."

Tourists: "Where are all the historical sites? Dunno. Oh well, since we drove all this way we might as well go to the mall."
