View Full Version : Another sick animal

A few weeks ago I had to put my rat to sleep. A week and a half after that Toria's Guinea Pig died from an upper resperatory infection. Well before the pig died he played with the remaining rat and now she is sick.
I started her on meds this afternoon and I will be watching her closely. Please, please send her prayers to get better. Her name is Arrora (like Sleeping Beauty) and I dont think we could handle loosing another animal.
I know there are people with HUGE problems that need major energy and prayers, but if you could just take a moment and say a prayer for her I would appreciate it so very much.
Thanks

:hugz::hugz::hugz::hugz::hugz::hugz::hugz::hugz:Oh, you know I am SO sorry about all this! Is your little one older?
This is a part of the cycle of life that young Toria is unfortunately learning about early.
Lots of love and healing energy to you three,

She is actually younger than the one I had to put to sleep. Probably just short of a year old I think.

-- for you and Toria both!
We had our rabbit put down last week, poor little thing was getting paralyzed on one side. But she lived to be about 8 yrs old which is like Methuselah in bunny-years.
Animal companions are a trade-off - for all the joy and love they give us, we grieve equally for them when they are sick and when they pass. But our good memories of them stay with us as a comfort.

healing energies for the little one
On a side note. You should never let rats play with other species, especially pure *prey* species like guinea pigs. Rats are omnivores and can hurt or kill other species. Many people don't know it, but rats can and will hunt and kill prey. They're renowned for killing birds, mice and even larger creatures like gps. It's really too dangerous for all animals involved to let them play together. Even though you may keep a very close eye on them, it only takes a few seconds for something bad to happen, and it's really not worth the risk.
Just a little FYI. I'm sure you want to do the best for your pets, and I know I always welcome any info sent my way.....what you don't know, what may not even be common knowledge can still affect you and your pet, so I always figure it's better off to let pet owners know info, whether they may already know it or not. Better safe than sorry.
Sorry if that came off preachy... :P not supposed to be. Kinda tired so I'm starting to sound like a textbook or something..lol
Good luck with the little one, may you have many more months with her.

Arrora is doing very well thank you all so much for the well wishes for her.
Denikke I didnt take that as preachy at all. I did it to give all critters maximum time outside playing but it never occured to me that the ratters could hurt the much bigger piggy.
Thank goodness it didnt cause us to loose Arrora.
