Badly Broken Arm

The sun was directly in my eyes late Friday and I tripped over something unseen. Took a hard fall, must have tried to catch myself, and broke my arm. Of course it's my right arm. Any good thoughts or energies or prayers would be very welcome.

I don't have health insurance, am afraid of what the bill will be like for the ambulance, ER treatmrnt, Xrays, iv hookup and drugs. And will need to see the bone doc next week. Meanwhile I can't work so there won't be any money coming in this month. Bummer!

Oh yeah, my brand new glasses (that cost $500) didn't break but the lens are badly scratched - I hope the scratches can be polished out so I don't have to buy a new set of lens.

I don't have insurance either. I fell putting my tooth through my lip and in the end it cost me $3000! Of course I couldn't pay, so they "recaptured" my state taxes until it was paid. It's a real pain in the backside to not have insurance.

Can you apply for emergency assistance, since you will be out of work? I know it will depend on what you do, but if you cannot use your arm, you may be entitled to some sort of benefit to help get you through this. Go Tuesday, While the cast is relatively fresh!

Oh Lunacie, that must really suck. Maybe you could work with the hospital's accounting office to make it as affordable as possible.

Before we were married I had no insurance for a short period of time. I ended up in the ER for my gall bladder. It cost over $4000 for my treatment. They were very willing and understanding at the accounting office. I think they figure getting any payment is better than letting it go to collection, which might never get paid off.

Last night was our ritual for my Grove mate who passed over very suddenly about 3 weeks ago. Her widow was really looking forwaed to having the gang back at their house again. This is the first ritual he has attended - he's not Wiccan - since they were married at our Yule ritual two years ago.

My daughter helped mr prepare the barbeque beef that was my contribution to the dinner and I was able to catch a ride with another group member. It was a beautiful ritual - even if it is rather unusual for the priestess to spend bits of it sitting down. :smileroll

I felt a bit strange wearing a nightie instead of underwear beneath my ritual robe. :nicetie:

Thank you all very much! It seems your energies and good thoughts helped. I was able to get in to the orthoped doc this afternoon. They did two more xrays and said the bones had not shifted so I don't need surgery or a cast. I just have to wear the sling 24/7 with an ace bandage wrapped around to immobilize my arm, and check back in 3 weeks.

When I had surgery on a finger (broken, dislocated, AND torn tendon) several years ago I was doing self-healing the whole time and was healed at least a week sooner than expected. I should be able to do that again, eh? Especially with a good start from all you lovely and generous folks. Thank you.

Just want to say "Thanks" again to everyone for the good thoughts and healing energies. I just returned from my 3 week checkup with the orthopedic doc and she was "pleasantly surprised" by my xrays. :clapping: I told her that knowing Reiki and having folks "pray for me" certainly didn't hurt any. :bow:

Have to keep wearing the sling for a few more weeks but in a week or two I can begin doing some passive exercises (although she suspects I've been doing some already *wink*).

So thanks again folks, and any energy boosts to finish the healing without needing any special work for the rotator cuff would be appreciated also.

I haven't been sleeping very well since I stopped taking the pain meds at bedtime (they were upsetting my tummy). I usually sleep on my side, switching sides several times during the night, so I've hated only being able to sleep on my left side for the last 3 weeks. But early this morning I tried (again) to roll over onto my broken shoulder and was actually able to get comfortable that way for an hour or so before the ache returned and I had to roll back over. But it's progress!

The doc really scared me when she mentioned the possibility of rotator cuff injury, but can't tell until the bone is fully mended. So I will continue with the Reiki and take it easy with the arm so I don't put any more stress onto that rotator cuff. Without heath insurance I can't afford any more trips to the bone doc's office.
