View Full Version : My Baby

So right now it 12:40 at night and my husband just drove off with my little girl in the car. The are going to the ER because all of a sudden my baby was not breathing that great. My hubby is a RT (respiratory therapist) and even he was worried. I am at home because my five year old is asleep and we decided not to wake her because she worries about her sister so much that she would be hard to handle at the ER.

I just pray my baby is okay, he was worried and left in a hurry. So now I am just sitting here waiting for him to call.

Thank You All SOOOOO MUCH!
She got home from the hospital early this morning. They said that nothing was wrong. I just don't understand then how my baby can be gasping for breath and having such a hard time breathing but be okay. I wonder if there was something they missed?

I am more worried than before, babies don't just suddenly have a hard time breathing, she was coughing, gasping and weezing from a dead sleep, for no reason.....right?

:hugz: You're right, it is NOT normal for a baby her age to suddenly start wheezing and gasping for breath in the middle of a deep sleep.

Maybe it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion about this occurrence. Just to be on the safe side of course. We can't be too careful when it comes to our children's breathing, right?

I'm sending energy, warm thoughts and prayers to all of you, and to the doctors so they can figure out what's going on with your little one.

Lots of love, my friend. :hugz:

maybe allergy ?

check for toxins in plastic/wood/furniture etc

also clothing

stay away from any bright colours, etc

have you redone the walls (paint, vernish etc?)

have you used aggressive washing powder/softener etc

have you used aroma therapy
smoking, incense ?

I'm so glad she's OK. I was worried all day. I agree with Cloaky. I would get another opinion. Something doesn't sound right.

I agree. Get another opinion. It could have been an allergy or asthma attack. That is really scary in a small child.

Much love and healing to all of you.

Nothing new has come into our home, no painting or even new cloths in the last few weeks. As for smoke, well I don't allow smoking, burning incense or lighting candles in the house because my five year old has horrible allergies.

My mother said it might be sleep apnea. Children can suffer that up until the age of like one or something and while Katelynn is turning one Wednesday it wouldn't be a stretch. I think since my hubby is working tonight and Izabella (my five year old) is sleeping over her grandmothers I will have Katelynn sleep with me in my room. Just to be on the safe side.

That's actually not a bad idea. If she's only have breathing issues when she is asleep, it could be a good indication of sleep apnea.

Oh :hugz:
I am really sorry I just saw this, I am glad the baby is ok. I would deffinately get a second opinion.

I think I am going to agree with the sleep apnea possibility.
Another possibility is perhaps she was having a nightmare?

I think it is a good Idea you keep her with you tonight to be safe.

Also, how well ventilated is her room?
I will keep her in my thoughts.

I'm glad you are seeing her regular doctor instead of the emergency room (I assume) doctor... I bet he will test her for the sleep apnea just to be on the safe side. Be well and hugs to the whole family.

Glad to hear she is ok and glad to hear that she has an appt with her own doctor. I agree with what others have said here..there is something going on and I'm betting one of 3 primary things: asthma attack, allergy attack, sleep apnea. Do you have a fan in her room? Studies have recently shown that having a fan turned on low in a little one's room, ceiling fan or "desk/table top", can help to lessen the risk of/prevent SIDS and other breathing issues. Something my grandmother and mother already knew....as did others before them..before electric fans, the women in our family would sit and fan the sleeping babies (or have one of the other kids do it) and at night the babies slept right beside the "family bed" in their own little cradles. As kids, we always had a fan in our rooms........guess that's why I can't stand to try to sleep in a room with little or no air circulating.

One last thing.... do you live in a nortern climate? Maybe you just started heating and usually that means drastically drier air in the house, which could possibly aggravate any breath related condition. Just a thought.

Yup and I have an appointment next week to see him.
Good, glad to hear that you're taking her to her doctor. Hopefully he'll be able to see something the ER doctors may have missed.

I like what Artiste-Lili had to say about the fans, it wouldn't hurt to try it, that's for sure. It may help her breathe easier.

Keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers, my friend. :hugz:

Just an update:

Today the baby awoke hyper and played herself to exhaustion, falling asleep on the floor while playing. Too Cute!
