Yeah, when I read more about Jefferson, I was very disapointed. I mean, I don't know how credible the book I'm reading now is ('Jefferson's Secrets'), but it says that while he did approve of the proper education of women, he believed that due to their "frail" or "emotional" disposition, they were unfit for getting involved in politics. I won't deny that many of us girls are pretty fickle or emotional, but there is a political side to everything I think. I don't think it would be possible (or fair) to just fence out a particular gender or race due to traditional stigmas from such a common subject.
I found a paper back book with Thomas Paine's 'Common Sense' and the 'Rights of Man'. It was the last on the shelf. He was pretty controversial in such a time. A lot of what he wrote about the monarchies in France and England made me laugh. The ideas were just so true to me. When another journalist *can't think of his name* sort of challenged to compare the "constitutions" of France and England, Paine totally schooled him, in my opinion.
I'm sorry if there are any discrepancies in my post. I'm just 17...so what do I know?
