Hello MW people. Recently my girlfriend has been suffering from some rather nasty and otherwise unwarented dreams. One option that I've come up with is to create a voodoo doll/ popet for her and then build some protective wards around that. I perfer to create things like this in my workings but I've never really used this form of interpritational magick before so I was looking for opinions and experiences on this.
(Mods, i posted this in Just Pagan as it concerns both Voodoo Dolls and Popet magic but feel free to move it if need be) :falloffch
Thank you in advance for your input on this.

I have heard of using the dolls as a sort of protective magic. You'd just make the doll as her and do whatever you intend with it.
Personally though, I'd just put a packet of angelica root in the pillowcase for this, it would be a lot easier.

I'm not a very big herb person. Though I've tried to use herbs in the past for workings, I've never had the same connection as when I craft something from hand.
Thanks for the response. =)
Anyone else have experience or thoughts on this?:kooky:

I have used rune-forms and what I've named "rune-binds" which a a mixture of several runes, but other than that I only use runes when I just "feel" one is needed.

There are two dual eight columns of runes vertical...
Two horizontal...and a ring of fourteen for the head...
Up for it ?
All columns , and rings , are in my archived class threads...
Let me know...will link you...:uhhuhuh:

Okay...page 7...PDF file...
Two of the right hand column , as facing you...
Vertical runes...
Two of left hand...
Horizontal...
Oldest poppet...looked like an equilibrium cross , with ring...
Thus...on horizontal bar , middle would be where it looks like
an "M" , and "W"...
Make bar...let us say...from a "stave"...carve runes...
Make vertical bar...bore hole , where it looks like "F" , and "H"...
After carving runes , dual columns , both directions...
Slide horizontal bar through...then , attach rune ring , just
one , not dual...for head...
Got it ?
P.S. Looks like Venus , or female symbol...

I believe so. I will try implementing and then work form there.
Thank you for the help. I'll PM you with any further issues on this particular topic if they arise, that is if you do not mind.

I wonder if one might not join the characterstics of a Dream Catcher as a sifter and the concept of a poppet as a construct? The dream catcher is used to cleanse the area of dreamtime events while the poppet construct stands watch over the more physical facets of the room.
To have one weaved into the other I think with actually give the poppet a foot into both the dreamtime events and the physical. Add a touch of the person being protected to the dream catcher via a hair thread and to the poppet and it would give them a connection to the one to protect.
Just a though for what its worth

That is a powerful thought , Mon Sno Lee Dra...
I will state this Poppet , is much different , from "normal"...
Dream territory is covered , as well physical...
HOWEVER...placing poppet , on a larger dream "catcher" ,
is a wonderful idea...or suspended , from bottom...

Thank you MonSno. That was actually something I was thinking of as well. The crafts store will be getting quite a bit outta me very soon. I've never built a dreamcatcher before BUT, theres a first time for everything and for my girl, anythings worth it.

I won't go into why , here...but...ELEVEN points of connection , with the cord , to the ring , in the dreamcatcher...is very powerful...
To create the Web...just sayin'...

I do not know if others would agree but something I have always been told is to use the vibration of the individual that the items are to be used for.
In that light if I where to make a dream catcher for someone specifically, I would gather hair while they are alseep and from the body (head or hair lost on a pillow as they slept) to match the vibration of the catcher to thier specific vibration rate. In away it's like tuning the catcher to their specific frequency. If aware enough one might even take extra samples during the periods when the person suffers the greatest to really fine tune the catcher.
My belief is that we have a slightly different vibration rate under sleep and various sleep stages than when awake. Then take samples for inclusion into the poppet at various times of the day to align it to all the variations the person experiences. With the hair or other items included it also makes it personal to that individual and less effective / reflective against anyone else that may be there during the night.
I say that because while I have never seen it occur I have been told of others having dreams disrupted or nightmares when items are added and the residue is dropped into thier minds or dreams. Sort of an example of the door being part open for one and highly guarded though less affective for anyone else in the room.

Shawn,
Sort of off topic but would you use blood more as an active element for return attack more so than defensive or reflective usuage? If I knew for sure someone was interjecting or attacking blood would be a primary componet for me.
The vibration rate of hair and nails would make it like a barrier that is set to the persons vibration rate and is somewhat more passive in action I think. Though one could add blood to the poppet construction to make it aggresive in action to the passive reflective of the dream catcher I suppose.

I know you are not fond of herbs but I would strongly suggest adding some Keep Away Evil powder(PM me for recipe) or some Rue and Oak for protection and breaking any curses or unknown jinxes.
Other things that can help:
Take a pinch of sea salt and toss between the sheets of your bed.
Mothballs placed in the corners of the room help keep a room free of unwanted psychic intrusions.
Place a glass of water at the head of the bed before retiring at night every night. This glass of water is not for drinking, it is there to catch all the energy that you don't want around you. in the morning empty the water into the toilet and rinse out the glass three times pouring the water used to rinse it in the toilet as well. When you flush it down you are flushing away what was in the glass. Repeat this ritual every night and you will find the return of good sleep. If the sleep is still troubled at times you might add a bit of camphor(piece the size of a match head) to the water every night. Camphor will assist in the dissipation of any thought forms.
To help rid the room of bad energies you can also take a bunch of Fresh basil and dip it into sea salt water and shake it all around the bedroom area lightly flicking the water with the bunch of basil.
If you are lucky enough to have hardwood floors you can also use a floor wash to help give a good spiritual cleansing to the room. PM me for a recipe if so.
Your partner may benefit from taking a beer bath too. Add a quart of beer and a teaspoonful of table salt to a tub of lukewarm water. Stir clockwise until the water and beer are mixed. Enter the tub and immerse yourself completely several times. Then sit and pour the water over yourself. Immerse and rinse yourself with the water 5 more times until you have been in the tub 7 minutes. You can use a pan or glass to pour the water over yourself during this process. Leave the tub and towel dry your hair, put on a bathrobe and allow the water to dry on you. Ask for the removal of negative energy before retiring to bed.

Mixing up a batch of saltwater and washing around all the doors and windows works well too.
If you are lucky enough to have hardwood floors you can also use a floor wash to help give a good spiritual cleansing to the room.
I put floor wash into a spritzer bottle and spritz my carpets and then I sweep them from the back of the house through to the front door and then out the door.

I have used rune-forms and what I've named "rune-binds" which a a mixture of several runes, but other than that I only use runes when I just "feel" one is needed.
A bindrune is a combination of two or more runes, arranged into a common glyph. They are often symmetrical since Norse magic considers palindromes to be more powerful. Orientation, though, is irrelevant to a rune, so the runesmith is free to flip or rotate the runes to make a pleasing design. You might notice, for example, that the Bluetooth logo is a ligature of beorc and ken, symmetrical through the horizontal axis.
More complex bindrunes can be constructed in a manner similar to the AOS sigil. Note, however, that the paradigms are opposed. The purpose of an AOS sigil is to encode and disguise the statement of intent. The sigil is then destroyed to remove the spell from the material world so it exists only in the True Will. A bindrune might be hidden in a design, but once recognized, an experienced runesmith would be able to determine the runes that make it up, and so deduce the general purpose of the spell.
