For a novice or a person interested in learning more about this path:
What Christian Witchcraft books or websites would you recommend?

Well, the one I started out with back about 6 years ago is called "Sister Karol's Book of Spells and Blessings" by Karol Jackowski. She was a Catholic Nun who lived in New York at the time the book was published.
It's published by Hyperion Books and was released in 2001.
EDIT: Websites, the only one I know about that has a lot of Christian Witches on it is Mystic Wicks! I didn't do a lot of searching, I asked about it in another site and was told this site was the best of the best that included Christian Witches.

There used to be one called Olive Spiral, but it shut down, apparently because the woman who ran it wanted to pay for previously free services.

I've noticed that a lot of Christian Witch/Christo-Pagan websites want you to pay for their services. Which drives me crazy. because did Jesus charge for his teachings? No!
Edit: Um, sorry to hijack the thread with my strong opinions. I didn't mean to offend anyone. It's one of the things that drives me up a wall... I'll be posting a huge list of links in my next post, and a list of books following that one...

Wow HerbGurl!!! That is an amazing list, there are definately so sites that I want to spend some time at!
You're Welcome! When I become interested in a topic, I tend to research, and research, and research because I want to know everything about it. Yes, I am a bit obsessive.8O
I wish that The Seeker's Page: A Norvicensian Christian Witchcraft Guidance Course had not shut down. I do have the pages saved on my harddrive, but I haven't been able to get in contact with the author (Rawna Moon) to see if she would mind if I put a mirror of the site up. Her information was so valuble, and it is such a loss to the Christo-Witch community not to have those pages anymore...
My next post has a bunch of Christian Goddess resources, and the post after that will have some links for Christian Witch/Christopagan Rituals, and prayer. Then, when I get it together, I have a large list of books as well...
Oh, I also have a huge list of Jewish Goddess/Judeo-Pagan/Jewitchery resources if anyone wants me to post that. I know this might be kinda off topic for this forum, but I thought some people might find it useful since Christianity has its roots in Judaism.

Books for the Esoteric Christian, Christo Pagan, Christian Wiccan, and Christian Witch
Books I Own
General
Inner Christianity: A Guide to the Esoteric Tradition by Richard Smoley (http://www.amazon.com/Inner-Christianity-Guide-Esoteric-Tradition/dp/1570628106/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231265436&sr=1-1)
A wonderful guide on the various mystical and esoteric traditions of Christianity. Also includes practical ideas for implementing esoteric Christianity intoyour life. Highly recommended.
The Feminine Face of Christianity by Margaret Starbird (http://www.amazon.com/Feminine-Face-Christianity-Margaret-Starbird/dp/0835608271/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231265390&sr=1-1)
I adore Margaret Starbird, and this work is no exception. Lovely ideas on integrating the Feminine Divine in your personal prayer life.
Christian Wicca: The Trinitarian Tradition by Nancy Chandler Pittman (http://www.amazon.com/Christian-Wicca-Nancy-Chandler-Pittman/dp/1410753476/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231265827&sr=1-1)
One of the first books on Christian Wicca. Interesting blend of Kabbalah, and Gnosticism with Wicca.
Meditations on the Tarot: A Journey into Christian Hermeticism by Anonymous (http://www.amazon.com/Meditations-Tarot/dp/1585421618/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231268724&sr=1-1)
This book is sometimes dry, and very slow going. When I first found this book in a used bookstore, it took me over a year to read it! However, it is *deep*. Chapter XIX is of special interest to Christo-Pagans, Christian Wiccans, and Christian Witches about the Divine Feminine.
The Crafted Cup by Shadwynn (http://www.amazon.com/Crafted-Cup-Ritual-Mysteries-Goddess/dp/0875427391/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231265538&sr=1-1)
Out of print, but an interesting look at a Western Esoteric Tradition Pagan trad with Christian tendencies worships.
A Witch Alone, New Edition: Thirteen Moons to Master Natural Magic by Marian Green (http://www.amazon.com/Witch-Alone-New-Thirteen-Natural/dp/0007133235/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231269696&sr=8-1)
Not about Christian Witchcraft per say, but contains the following quote on page 12 which I adore:
Witchcraft, as a religious impulse, has never gone out to recruit or convert those of other faiths, nor does being a witch prevent you following an orthodox belief as well. Today there are Catholic witches, Quaker and Church of England witches, as well as Hindu, Jewish and Buddhist witches.
Love that Quote!
The Circle Within by Dianne Sylvan (http://www.amazon.com/Circle-Within-Creating-Spiritual-Tradition/dp/0738703486)
Again, not on Christian Wicca/Witchcraft, but a guide for creating your own spiritual path. Lots of good ideas here. A must read...
Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom by John O'Donohue (http://www.amazon.com/Anam-Cara-Book-Celtic-Wisdom/dp/006092943X)
Again, not about Christian Wicca, but a book on Celtic mysticism, with some gorgeous prayers to Saint Brighid.
Divination and Magic
Sister Karol's Book of Spells and Blessings by Karol Jackowski (http://www.amazon.com/Sister-Karols-Book-Spells-Blessings/dp/0786867728)
Magic by a Catholic Nun! Cool!
The Book of Runes by Ralph Blum (http://www.amazon.com/Book-Runes-Handbook-Ancient-Anniversary/dp/0312097581)
The Book of Rune Cards by Ralph Blum (http://www.amazon.com/Rune-Cards-Ancient-Wisdom-Millennium/dp/0312169922)
I know these books are often despised because they deviate from traditional Pagan teachings on the Runes, but I find them an excellent introduction on how Divination could be incorporated with Christian beliefs...
Prayer
Circle of Mysteries: The Woman's Rosary Book by Christin Lore Weber (http://www.amazon.com/Circle-Mysteries-Womens-Rosary-Book/dp/0936663154/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231265077&sr=1-1)
A gorgeous book on the rosary that blends Christian and Pagan imagery in a beautiful portrait. One of my absolute favorite books...:clapping:
New Zealand Prayer Book: He Karakia Mihinare O Aotearoa by Anglican Church in Aotearoa New Zealand (http://www.amazon.com/New-Zealand-Prayer-Book-Rev/dp/006060199X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231266015&sr=1-1)
A gender neutral prayer book, containing this lovely version of the Lord's Prayer (http://www.winternet.com/~webpage/lordsprayer.html)
Mary Magdalene
The Woman with the Alabaster Jar (http://www.amazon.com/Woman-Alabaster-Jar-Magdalen-Grail/dp/1879181037/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231266160&sr=1-1)
Proposes the theory that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married, and had children, and how MAry Magdalene restores the Sacred Feminine to the Christian Godhood...
The Goddess in the Gospels by Margaret Starbird (http://www.amazon.com/Goddess-Gospels-Reclaiming-Sacred-Feminine/dp/187918155X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231266784&sr=1-1)
A memoir of the author on how she went from a hard core Catholic to wanting to restore the Sacred Feminine to Christianity.
Magdalene's Lost Legacy: Symbolic Numbers and the Sacred Union in Christianity by Margaret Starbird (http://www.amazon.com/Magdalenes-Lost-Legacy-Symbolic-Christianity/dp/1591430127/ref=pd_sim_b_1)
St. Mary Magdalene: The Gnostic Tradition of the Holy Bride by Tau Malachi (http://www.amazon.com/St-Mary-Magdalene-Gnostic-Tradition/dp/073870783X/ref=pd_sim_b_6)
A Gnostic retelling of Mary Magdalene. I like how he suggests celebrating her on May 1st, which is the date of Beltane in Pagan faiths.
Scriptures
The Gnostic Gospels by Elaine Pagels (http://www.amazon.com/Gnostic-Gospels-Elaine-Pagels/dp/0679724532/ref=pd_sim_b_5)
The Other Bible by William Barnstone (http://www.amazon.com/Other-Bible-Willis-Barnstone/dp/0060815981/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231270046&sr=8-1)
The Gospels of Mary: The Secret Tradition of Mary Magdalene, the Companion of Jesus by Marvin Meyer (http://www.amazon.com/Gospels-Mary-Tradition-Magdalene-Companion/dp/0060727918/ref=cm_lmf_tit_1)
Some of the above scriptures are scriptures that did not make it into the Bible, and some are gnostic in flavor, and mention the Divine Feminine. The Other Bible is highly recommended.
Books do NOT I own, but have heard are good
Circle of Mysteries: The Woman's Rosary Book, Including the Mysteries of Light by Christin Lore Weber (http://www.amazon.com/Circle-Mysteries-Womans-Rosary-Including/dp/0936663413/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231265077&sr=1-2)
An updated version of the book mentioned above with the new Mysteries of Light that were added to the Rosary in 2000? I think.
Embracing Jesus and the Goddess: A Radical Call for Spiritual Sanity by Carl McColman (http://www.amazon.com/Embracing-Jesus-Goddess-Radical-Spiritual/dp/1931412782/ref=pd_sim_b_1)

RAWNA MOON WAS AH-MAZING!!! I WAS SO DEVASTATED TO FIND THE NORVICENSIAN PAGES GONE!!! THEY REALLY WERE SO HELPFUL AND THERE WERE SUCH BEAUTIFUL AND INSIGHTFUL POEMS...REALLY BE PERSISTANT ABOUT TRYING TO CONTACT HER...THE WORLD NEEDS THAT INFORMATION.
:wah: I'M STILL IN MOURNING...

Yes , that is an impressive list - although the "Northern Gnostic" one says I've committed a serious security violation or something when I clicked on the link to it. :wth:
I'm sorry about that message as the page happens to be my own. I recently switched it to a different address. "The Northern Gnostic" can now be found here...

Yeah me too, but that's what I like about forums such as this one - other people who have already done a lot of research and are willing to share the best bookmarks. After all, there's no better friend then a researcher who recommends the very best stuff, right? :)

I've created a website dedicated to explaining my particular path in life (Christo-Pagan of an Eclectic nature, drawing from Wicca, Gnostic, Christian and Catholic trends). It's still under some construction and gets updates on a very, very frequent basis:
http://www.pagansforchrist.com/
It is very much based on my own personal path, which is important to keep in mind (this point is brought up around the website frequently though, as I get a little tired of the "criticism" at times for not following the exact same Christo-Paganism as everyone else :hairred: oof...)
It's a beautiful site. :)

Found this awsome new christian witch community few days ago. It is new but is already a wonderful safe space for christian witches. Anyone can join but there is a strict rule of respect i.e. you can't join just to tell everyone else that they can't be christian witches! It's been up for a short while but has about 20 members so far, with some great discussions like being in the broom closet.
I really think this community will be a wonderful safe haven for christian witches.

Bright Blessings,
I hold hopes that this might help you in your quest for seeking knowledge and insight on the Christo Arts:
This is a link to Christian Witch Yahoo group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thechristianwitch/
There you will find a large number of knowledgeable and experienced people who are happy to share a great deal of extensive insight on Christian Witchcraft.
You are more than welcomed to join the Christian Witch Community: http://christianwitchcommunity.aimoo.com/
We also have a nice little number of knowledgeable and experienced members- Aimoo is CWC's new home as we are in transition from Ning.com since ning.com is now phasing out their free sites & If you would like to study a little more in-depth you can visit The Christian Witch Guidance Course
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thechristianwitchcourse (http://christianwitchcommunity.aimoo.com/url.cfm?link=TuloSYhUcwuITe6Jed6mvDhx1$sbo$7vOEcb$OX$QPTLYdai66GV597G0cA5dbkn) and apply for classes.
The owner of the CWGC is Lorrie- she is a very nice lady with lots of spunk and spirit and she is also very helpful with her understanding of Christian Witchcraft as well.
I hold hopes that these links will be of help to you as well as an abundance of support in your journey for knowledge.

I preordered this from Amazon a few weeks before it came out, and read the whole thing in one sitting once it arrived.
I found the book a very interesting read. Of course, as is the case with any such materials, there were things I disagreed with, or things that didn't apply to me, but overall I enjoyed it...well worth staying up a couple extra hours that night to get through it!
I would recommend this book to people that are a bit unsure of where their path is taking them, as it describes the author's journey into Christian Witchery very well, and I think a lot of people can relate to what she went through.

I have this one. It's quite good, although I found it a bit hard to get through certain parts because it was so dry. The last third or so of the book consists of interviews with various ChristoPagans, and I really enjoyed that part...it made it "real" as opposed to "theoretical."

If you could choose three MUST HAVE reads about christian witchcraft... what would the 3 be?
I am about to buy some books and would love your recommendations. I would like to learn more about the path, how tos (for others) you know, how people have set up altars etc... spells... I'm trying to get as much info on every aspect as I can. I was thinking of getting The Path of the Christian Witch as well as the little spell book by the nun ( I forget her name)
But if it were you... What would you choose?
I saw someone on here had posted their amazon shop with their books and will go and have a look next as I bookmarked it to shop later.
I look forward to your help and thank you in advance!

Well, I consider myself to be more Pagan than Christian but the one book I recommend for any Christo-Pagan would be "Sister Karol's Book of Spells and Blessings" by Karol Jackowski. It's no longer in print but you can still get it on Amazon. It is the very book that got me on the Christian Witchcraft path. The spells in it are wonderful, as are the prayers and there is a lot of information for anyone who is just starting out. It suggests how one can set up their altar, the use of prayers, how one can thank God for their spells working, etc.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to give me a nudge. I'm no expert on Christo Paganism by any means but I am willing to share my knowledge and experiences.
And if anyone has any questions they wish to post in this particular forum, please do so!! There is no such thing as a "stupid" question. Asking about different things is one of the ways we gain knowledge after all!! ;)

I also purchased and devoured Adelina St. Clair's Path of a Christian Witch, although I had to force myself to make the book last more than a single sitting. :mmm: I thought it was interesting and honest, although the author in me cringed at some of the rather romantic and almost cliche descriptions St. Clair used at times. However, I can forgive these because, as I mentioned, I think she's just being honest. After reading the book now I want to meet her and visit the Crescent Moon School in Montreal!

Well, the one I started out with back about 6 years ago is called "Sister Karol's Book of Spells and Blessings" by Karol Jackowski. She was a Catholic Nun who lived in New York at the time the book was published.
It's published by Hyperion Books and was released in 2001.
this book is lovely! not only is it interesting and a good read for someone just getting started on this path, but sister karol is cute and hilarious at times...i just kept picturing this sweet catholic nun at a bar drinking a bahama mama with a straw...(that's from a story my dad told me about a nun he met). very good book!
i also recommend " the circle within " - by dianne sylvan - very good read so far, i'm about halfway through it. this was recommended to me by another person on this site. not really a christo-paganism book but it explains the reasons behind wicca and how to develop your own spiritual tradition. happy reading!

Thanks, me too! I've been watching the mail anxiously, but the book hasn't arrived yet.

I am still away (hence my disappearance from the boards), but am hoping that mine is waiting for me when I get home on Wednesday!

Ok...it is now Friday. I have been home for two days, and still no book.
I am going to start stalking the mailbox if it doesn't show up soon! hahaha

I hope it comes soon! We should have a book discussion thread on it, when more people get copies. That would be interesting.

Just got two new books (love the Amazon.ca Loonie Deals section! They were under $2 each!)
The first one is called A Book of Uncommon Prayer (http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/1844881016/ref=oss_product), by Theo Dorgan. Not strictly Christian Witch specific, but it has a wide variety of prayers and poems, and I just really enjoyed it.
The second one (also not specifically for Christian Witches, but it's quite a nice read) is called The Worrywart's Prayer Book (http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/0757302602/ref=oss_product), by Allia Nolan. It's got a humorous touch to it.

Found another book that might be of interest of Christian Witches, Christo-Pagans, and the like. It's Living Buddha, Living Christ (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/159448239X/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=1573225681&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0P7MCS3DRCGJX4BHNWRH)by Thich Nhat Hanh. My reason for including this book in the recs thread is, although Buddhist and Christian in nature, its teachings on mindfulness, peace, and compassion can be applied to any spiritual path. My favorite quote from this book appears on pages 99-100:
But can a person have two spiritual roots at a time? Can both of them learn Christianity and Buddhism, and practice both traditions? We know that when someone does not have any root, they suffer tremendously. But what about the question of having more then one root? Before I met Christianity, my only spirtual ancestor was the Buddha. But when I met beautiful men and women who are Christians, I came to know Jesus as a great teacher. Since that day, Jesus Christ has become one of my spiritual ancestors. As I have mentioned, on the altar of my hermitage in France, I have statues of Buddhas, and bottisatvas, and also an image of Jesus Christ. I do not feel any conflict within me. Instead, I feel stronger because I have more then one root.
(Bolding is my emphasis. You know, we could easily refute people who say that Christo-Paganism is incompatible by reciting this quote!)

Gospel of the Nazirenes
(like a New Testament Bible, but it's more Pagan; I read this instead of the Bible)

Since I had forgotten to mention them:
I know of two really great books also:
Path of the Christian Witch by Adelina St. Clair (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The-Path-of-a-Christian-Witch/Adelina-St-Clair/e/9780738719825/?itm=1&USRI=adelina+st.+clair) and The Christian Witch's Handbook by H. Fuller Hutchinson. (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The-Christian-Witchs-Handbook/H-Fuller-Hutchinson/e/9781448951017/?itm=1&USRI=H.+Fuller+Hutchinson)
I actually have a copy of H.'s book and I just love her insight and some of the things that she has incorporated into her writing.

FWIW you might check out a book called "Pow-Wows or The Long Lost Friend" by George Hohman - it is a 19th century grimoire of Christian Magic of a very traditional sort (as opposed to the more recently developed variety that appears to be a Wiccan wannabe).

For those witchy-type Christians interesting in relating to the four Elements, there's Water, Wind, Earth & Fire: The Christian Practice of Praying With the Elements by Christine Valters Paintner (http://www.amazon.com/Water-Wind-Earth-Fire-Christian/dp/1933495227/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1296270984&sr=1-1).
I have it and i like it!

I added some more links to the "master" list in the first post, mostly about Quaker Paganism, marked by double asteriks. I'll mark dead links in the AM when I am more awake but not remove them.
03/29/11 Edit:
I added a bunch of new links, and reorganized some of them in my original post. (One of the side effects of my new ADHD meds is severe OCD symptoms, can you tell?) I'll probably reorganize my deity post in a little bit, as I have found some more good links... Hope that is okay...

And I don't blame you for avoiding cleaning, I try to do that as often as I can myself....

Oh, good. 8O I swear, the OCD that the Adderall causes is going to be great once school starts this fall, but for now I am channeling it into other researches. I just don't want to get annoying!
And, I totally understand you about cleaning!

Did a major overhaul of links on the post for Links on the Goddess and Deity in Christianity. (Most of the links were dead.) More will be coming soon. After lunch, perhaps...

Edit: Fixed my mistakes! :hi5: All the links should be visible, and of course, I will be adding more as I find them!
