View Full Version : First or Third Person?

For as long as I can remember I have dreamed, imagined and even remembered things not in first person, as in threw my own eyes, but in third person… as though I’m floating just a bit above and to the side of myself, so I can see myself as well as the people and things around me.

It was something I never really thought about and then when I did start to think about it I couldn’t really control it, I have a very difficult time getting into my own eyes, if that makes any sense at all. I can do it for a moment, and can always feel thing things happening to the me that I see, but when I’m not concentrating only on staying in my own body (either spiritual when visualizing/meditating or memories) I drift back out again.

So this leads to a few questions. Dose anyone else experience something like this? And could this be considered a ‘problem’ in any way? (as far as effective visualization/energy work)

I usually dream in third-person. But I was always so caught up in my meditation that I'm not sure whether it's third or first person... guess I'll have to look for that next time I do.

I know several people that dream or meditated in 3rd. They always have a narrator as well. I go back between 1st and 3rd- I will see my dreams.. but experience the physical. Like my body has the sensation.. but I see it from the eyes of the person who is in contact with me

that is exactly as I feel it... thank you its nice to know others experience the same or similar things. though I have never heard of a narrator before, that is quite interesting.

I go back between 1st and 3rd

So do I. :uhhuhuh:
For me it's been more flashy than annoying, like switching so fast that I can't really see anything. But with more practice I'm getting slightly better at holding one longer or making the switching slower, so that I can at least see.
I would say that your lucky you've got at least one down

I have dreamt like that also, but not always, it seems to happen at certain times in my life.
