I was just wondering what some of your guys' favorite chakra-based meditations are. If you want to share, I'd love to hear some!

I do a chakra cleanse and balancing bath/shower when I feel the need to realign
I visualize each one with the color it represents and that way I can usually see which ones are weak and those are the ones I work with the most, with the shower head on an intense pulse { if that makes sense} until I am surronded by a rainbow of color then I know I am back inline
then throughout the rest of the day I wear my chakra balancing pendant to keep them that way for awhile, if there was one chakra that didnt do so well with the cleansing I will wear the essential oil affliated with it or the color in my clothing to help and mentally work on it all day

I just began work and meditation on mine, so mine is pretty easy.
I start at the bottom and work my way up. (start at my feet)
I haven't started using colors, only light because I'm already having difficulty holding more than the first few.
To strengthen my color visualization, I'm supposed to meditate on myself holding a rainbow colored ball for as long as I can. It's been pretty straining, the rainbow likes to switch colors on me.
I think I'm going to order some stones to help me out, usually this kind of thing comes very easy to me.

It's been years since I have used it but I found this little trick worked for me when I tried to work with the Chakras.
I was always awful when it came to seeing colors so I obtained a small christmas light string. Using bulbs matching the color of the chakras I would light the string then let my eyes slide up and down the string until I felt myself pulled into one of the lights. If I was working on a specific point then I would loosen the other lights so only that one point shown and had my full attention.
I found one side affect of this was to be pulled to a point that was between the major globes at times. A place one might refer to as a transition point that existed between two points. Yet like the flow of a river, it could be a spot that energy got hung up in and just grew in size till it blocked the exchange of energy within the whole system.
The light string was also helpful in that after a bit the colors appeared in the third eye when the eyes were closed. Yet if they started to fade simply look at the string to reset them.
I will admit you had to be a little creative with the lavender color to make that one work.

Thanks, I'm going to have to try that that one!
Finding strings of lights will probably be the hardest part...maybe I can substitute or something.

I've heard of it being done with colored candles but can't say how well it worked for them.
For me the lights were best because I could also turn off all the lights then the colors seemed to just hang in the air. The candles could be lit and the flame used but that always worried me with regards to trying to step inside and see.
Always imagined, yes I burnt down the house but I cleared that blocked chakra.
If you look at some ceramics stores you can find short strings of lights that are used for some of the village molds. There's one village set that worked really good for it was set for 5 to 8 lights. They usually use the larger lights as well so it's easier to visualize with from what I found.

Okay thanks!
I'm stopping by the local craft store today to get some supplies to make Valentine cards (for the exchange) and I'll have to check it out. If not maybe I'll order some online. :boing:

I do a pretty basic one, visualizing the chakras starting at the root and moving to the crown, recalling their color and significance. Sometimes I envision them like little bowls of colored paint, and I envision myself dipping my finger into the paint and stirring it and pouring energy into it through my fingertip. It actually took me a while to get decent at visualizing and being able to do that without having someone guide me through it, though. But I practice it often, and each time get a little better at it. Usually I know which chakras aren't very healthy because I'll have a harder time visualizing them.

Then maybe I'm just not very healthy in general...
But I am going to work on it tonight and see if it works out, hopefully my blood preassure will remain stable throughout. :smileroll

:D If you've started doing the meditations fairly recently, I doubt that's the case. :) It did take me a while to be able to visualize clearly, and have the confidence to do it on my own.
I just thought of a potential one...not one I've tried, but as I've knitting right now, it just popped into my head. I wonder if working with yarn the color of your chakras and using that color as a helpful visual would be a decent exercise...
I hope we can get a couple of other people to share, as well. :)

Choices, choices.

I'm not very knowledgable on chakra, but i realign mine by imagining a spinning Yin/Yang symbol cutting a path from Crown to Root to clear any blockage I feel I might be having. I love the rainbow idea though.

Oh, that's interesting...I've never heard of that one before. Can you feel a difference afterwards?

I used to work on chakras with sound rather than visualisation as I found it easier. I came across this page the other day which might be of interest:
http://www.swamij.com/chakra-meditation.htm
I seem to remember other sites pronouncing the syllables slightly differently and also there seemed to be an issue about getting the right pitch. I found if you experiment a bit you can feel the corresponding parts of your body vibrate where the chakras are meant to be when you get the right sound/pitch. I found it quite fun myself although I haven't done this exact meditation from the link yet.
On other sites as well there sometimes seemed to be a slight caution with overdoing it. I found it okay myself but I guess we're all different.
Hope that's of use to somebody.
