I've felt a bit of a pull to Baron Samedi, and I'd like to perhaps make an altar to him. I'm trying to find more information on this and how to make offerings to him.(Specifically to ask him to watch over the dead)

I do have some reservations. I am not a practicing Voodousant(sp?), I am a practicing Wiccan. Is it considered very against the "laws" of Voodou for a non Voodou person to be participating in acts of faith concerning the Lwa?

And if not, then how exactly should I go about making an altar to him and offerings to ask him to watch over my deceased loved ones?

Have you tried looking up the Baron's specific likes/attractions?

I have some resources at home for each of the major Lwa that I have been able to find, but as for how helpful they are... that might be better left to a traditional practitioner.

I've been studying the various areas of vodou for awhile, and I still haven't quite made up my mind to create an altar for any of them... I just haven't felt quite ready yet, and I don't want to offend or get into something that I'm not wholeheartedly behind and comfortable with. :) I have small tributes to Papa Loko in the form of green things (beads, herbs, etc), but nothing specific enough that could claim him or allow him to claim me, if that makes sense.

I think that the Baron is the Lwa that is associated with death, night, darkness... the color black, the skull, and the one that wears the sunglasses with one eyeglass knocked out in possession form most often. (Sorry, I'm not good with off-the-top-of-my-head thoughts at the moment. :) )

There are a couple of other threads in this topic about the "rights" and "wrongs" of the practice that you might find helpful in regard to your other questions...

Read this whole page close to the bottom is a section telling how a non-initiate can make an altar and even offerings and an invocation.
