I've found myself very interested in Shamanism lately. I have been studying general pagan beliefs for a while, and I am now working into learning Paths. Shamanism has very much been placed at the top of my list.
I have a book: 'In the Shadow of the Shaman' by Amber Wolfe
I am sort of afraid to read it, because I know so many people can publish a book that is... wrong.
Has anyone else read Amber Wolfe's books? What do you think of her work? Is it worth my time reading?

Also - Are there any books you would suggest me to read on Shamanism?

The Ted Andrews books are ever-helpful... they focus more on the animal/totem/spirit communications.

Animal Speak, by Ted Andrews (http://www.amazon.com/Animal-Speak-Spiritual-Magical-Powers-Creatures/dp/0875420281/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1240505412&sr=8-2)

so would Ted Andrews book, be helpful to those interested in Animism? I've also been very curious about Shamanism and how it relates to Animism as well as energy work.

I got this very recent book from the library a little while ago. Do you (or anybody else) have any thoughts about the author or how it would compare to the two books listed in the quote.

Thanks.

Just wondering if anybody has read this book yet and what they thought of it -- I personally found it quite interesting. I've also just got this edited collection/book out from the library:

Shamans through time

Has anyone come across this at all and any thoughts on it?

Thanks.

I've reviewed a bunch of books on shamanism and totemism at http://paganbookreviews.com. (http://paganbookreviews.com/) Additionally, I've written a couple of books on totemism and animal magic, and I've edited an anthology on cultural appropriation which includes some commentary on neoshamanism; info at http://www.thegreenwolf.com/lupabooks.html. Also, it's not a book, but I highly recommend http://www.wildspeak.com (http://www.wildspeak.com/) as a source for practical information on shamanism from someone who walks the walk.
