Ok, so my grandma went in for knee surgery last Monday. On Tuesday she had an allergic reaction to something she ate at the hospital. She started vomiting, choking, couldn't eat, drink, or even swallow. It took almost a day for them to give her an IV, and by that time, she was dehydrated. Then she got pneumonia. On Thursday, she coded and almost died. She didn't want to be recussitated, but my mom and her brother have power of attorney, so they brought her back. It turns out that she has a hiatel hernia (sp?). Basically 75% of her stomach is in her lungs.
I went with my mother to go see her today, but she is highly sedated due to all the tubes and everything that's in her right now. They were hoping to take her off the ventilator today, but late last night her heart rate was up to 170, so she's staying on it for a while more.
Please, any energy that can be spared would be much appreciated.
