I recently found out that there's a great likelihood one of my most loved friends in the local area -- may need to move to Ohio with her mother and brother. We haven't gotten chances to hang out much, and we probably drifted a bit, but she's still a great friend; I'll miss her.
What's worse about the whole thing is the following:
- Her dad died back in December...and, of course, due to mourning, her mother took 12 days off work. She certainly went back to work and such, though she, Steph, and Steph's brother have been all working together on bills and such. Steph's even been on track to become a manager...
- Well, her mother's boss asked the mother to cover a shift for another worker. Her mother is a server, not a cook (which is the other employee's job), and she had been working maaaaany days with no day off recently. So, she turned him down.
- He had argued that she was given 12 days off, so I guess this obligated her to do it? Eh, BS, I say. In any case, he recently fired her...
And, with the firing, there's little way for them to pay rent for this month, and Steph's mother has had zero luck in finding a job anywhere. Steph will also be moving farther away from her girlfriend (who's in Georgia), and neither she nor her brother have ... much up there. It's going to be a drastic change. They're lucky they have the mother's family up there to help with everything, but yeah.
Please send some energy to her and her family, as I am.
Thank you.
