I was wondering if anyone has any ideas what the meanings of wearing rings on different fingers are... I know the obvious 4th finger on the left hand and was wondering if any of the other fingers had any significance
thanks :)

There was another thread on this subject several months ago.
Other than the wedding ring, the only one I know of is the Claddagh.
How To Wear The Claddagh Ring
Claddagh rings were originally worn in the village of The Claddagh in Galway, Ireland and their traditional purpose was to show marital status.
If one was courting, the claddagh ring would be worn on the right hand with the heart facing outwards.
Once a betrothal had been decided the claddagh ring would be turned so the heart faced inwards.
Upon marriage, the claddagh ring worn on the left hand with the heart turned inwards, would serve as a wedding ring.
Over time the poupularity of the claddagh design grew and now, people around the world wear the claddagh ring and gift to friends and those they hold dear the age old message of Love, Friendship & Loyalty.

The Thumb--The thumb represents self-assertion and willpower. It is the only finger not named after a Greek god. Choose thumb rings made with carnelian, garnet or ruby gemstones.
The Index Finger--This finger is named for Jupiter to symbolize self-confidence, leadership, ambition, leadership and spirituality. Select a ring with lapis lazuli, amethyst or blue topaz stones.
The Middle Finger--The middle finger, Saturn, stands for balance, justice, the law, responsibility and soul-searching. Soothing stones such as rose quartz, coral and aquamarine are appropriate for rings.
The Ring Finger--The ring finger represents Apollo and symbolizes relationships, creativity and the love of beauty. Complimentary gemstones include moonstone, jade, amethyst, sapphire and turquoise.
The Little Finger--Mercury rules the little finger, which stands for intelligence, communication, persuasion and intuition. Pick rings with stones such as moonstone, amber or citrine.
That's interesting. Thanks for the links.
I like to wear my rings on my thumbs and index fingers.

Unfortunately, I can't find a link to back it up but I was always told that widows wear thumb rings.

That's pretty cool. I didn't know different fingers had different meanings. Except the obvious one. :smileroll
