I know there are so much more important things to send good energies off but if anyone could spare some good energy to my 14 year old daughter, it would be much appretiated.

As some of you know, my Katie is Autistic/Asperger's Syndome & she has always done very well in main stream school. She's got a 3.5 gpa at the moment but she is very nervous about finals because it's her last before the start of High School. She has tried so hard but with the massive amount of anxiety she carries day to day from the Aspergers, she is worried her nerves will mess up her performance on final exams. :hairred: It would mean so much for her to know people are rooting for her. :)

Thank you all in advance!

Gods, I'm almost the mom of a High Schooler. Eeekk! Feelin really old now. LOL

:hugz: for you and her.

I don't have much advice because tests never really bothered me...

Just the usual deep breath and try not to think about it....a friend of mine will just read something entirely different for the hour before a test.....a fiction book just to get their minds off of it and time to mentally process and settle down.

Energy sent for Katie (and for her mom) to get through the testing and the transition.

Quick question, does Katie take anything for the anxiety?

I was recently diagnosed with GAD and don't have insurance, but we also suspect that my Autistic granddaughter has GAD as well. We'd rather not medicate her if possible as she's only 7, but if she feels anything like I do then maybe we should be giving her something. I recently did some research and started her taking Bach's Rescue Remedy - she likes the fruit flavored pastilles. It's hard to tell whether they're helping because she goes through phases and starting the Bach's may just be coinciding with her being in one of her phases where she gets along better.

Thank you & :hugz: to everyone :)

Lunacie, we've tried alot of different meds & the only one that seemed to help only slightly, caused her gorgeous auburn hair to fall out in clumps. The hair loss was so awful that any positive effects the med had were erased from the freak out of the loss of all that hair. I've been trying to find something "natural" to help with her anxiety, just not sure what would be good. This time of life for an Aspie, is really difficult because it's so social & Katie has such a hard time relating to her peer group. She has her first real friend this year & that has been such a blessing, the girl is quirky like Katie & have similar interests. This year has been the closest Katie has acted like her peer group. She went to the mall last weekend with her friend, without me!!! She's even getting a little bit of that teenage mouthiness. LOL She's such a kind girl. I really hope High School will be trauma free as possible.
She can stop growing now though, she'll be taller than me soon & having a bigger chest soon too. Eeeekk I am soo not ready for that. LOL

Exams are some of the most harrowing things in a teen's life, but she did it! (just like a bandaid.) Congrats, Katie!!
