Does anyone know which country this flag belongs to or why it is in the news today?

Wonderful! Thank you for prompting me to look that up. Should do this more often, it makes one learn something new for a change. :)

They're also in the news because they want to unnecessarily hunt and kill 50 humpback whales (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article6554324.ece).

So yes, the flag belongs to Greenland which was celebrating a new degree of autonomy last week, just short of full independence from Denmark.

Since that went ok, I'll set a new teaser, but this time the first person to get it right can set a new question and hopefully the thread can continue in that way as an ongoing current events quiz.

So here is the new question.
Who is Christian Kennedy and why was he in Prague this week?

I like this idea. A kind of topical quiz. Like Have I Got News For You, only without the smug presenters.

But so far nobody has had a go at it. :(

Christian Kennedy is the special envoy to Holocaust issues from the US and was in Prague discussing property stolen from victims and families during the Holocaust and how it might be returned.

I thought this thread had been totally forgotten!
You are correct so it is your turn to pose a new news question. :)

Today China denounced Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou. What was he denounced for?

Considering how those two countries get on, i'd say it was for looking at China in a funny way.

Ah, is it something to do with the Dalai Lama?

Ah, is it something to do with the Dalai Lama?

Yes it does. :) He is slated for a visit to help with the typhoon efforts. The Taiwanese President believes that the Dalai Lama's visit will help ease the suffering of the survivors as well as help the souls of the dead rest.

Your turn! :boing:

Okey then.

Who is Jaycee Lee Dugard, and what has she, apparently, been doing for the last 18 years?
