View Full Version : Meditating on a specific thing

I sometimes see people here say things like "I sat down to do a dragon meditation" or wolf, or whatever. I assume they mean a meditation about dragons or whatever they named. How exactly does one do that? I'd like to try it, but besides being out of practice (I've noticed the times I would most benefit from mediating are the times I'm least able to do it), I have no idea how to go about it. Let's say I want to do a meditation on wolves, for example. I can't name any specific thing about wolves; the only clear thing in my mind is "I want to do a wolf meditation". Any tips?

there may be specific ancient or new meditations for wolves, yet I would start with visualization/breathing technicques.....look for pictures of wolves and all the natural infor mation you can find and then picture a wolf in your minds eye...pray to the spirit of the wolf to be with you and guide you.........just keep yourself focused on anything wolf and you will feel if you are pulled a certain way....go with it as it very well be the spirit of the wolf....I used to meditate on many animals....one per night....it does not always come right away....3 days later you may see one .... or something will spark and answer from the spirits....be patient and practice.....good wishes and visions to you my sweet:uhhuhuh:

its focus, if you want to meet one of your deities for example a Native American one, imagine yourself in the forests or plains on a mountain, or if say your totem animal is the polar bear you start visualizing yourself on a frozen tundra, kinda like planning a trip, you figure out where you wanna go and voila! viva las vegas baby! :)

I agree with Aluokaloo. I tend to start with setting.
That's how I met my animal guide. I simply put myself in a natural environment in which I've always felt at home (in my case, the woods) and started visualizing myself walking. I actually met and spoke to another animal that was NOT my guide before meeting my guide and it was a really interesting experience.
Or sometimes I'll just use the first setting that comes to mind. One time the scene of a dark room with nothing but a table and a candle came to mind immediately. The next thing I knew, I was standing across the table from Morrigan and she was talking to me. We've met in this room repeatedly.
Lately I've been drawn to two pantheons and I wanted to meditate on this, so tonight I started out saying, "Lord and Lady reveal your forms to me that I might know my path," then closing my eyes, taking a few deep breaths, and thinking about each one. I let my thoughts flow freely to see how each pantheon makes me feel and what emotions, objects, character traits, etc. I associate with them. Images began coming to me very clearly then, without me forcing anything, and I met another deity tonight, but I'm not sure 100% who it is (I have an idea though!).
I hope this helps!
