Ask away, I would prefer through PM though. Eagle is messenger of the Gods, travelling between the worlds of mortals and spirit.

ah
golden eagle
[I [JimSte] have a strange look on my face]
one more thing
I once viewed an eagle under a blanket
it was likely something else than a golden eagle
one more thing
all stuff I do in this thread is something else than shamanism

I have chosen to follow the path the Spirit of the Golden Eagle has brought to me
I am going to pin the bird with the wings spread out......skin the bird out.............cut the tail feathers, two wings, talons....pluck as many feathers as I can and then put the carcass on a red ant hill......in clossed chicken wire so that the carcass can not be stolen by a cyote or something....I will cover the wings, tail and talons with salt to kill bacteria and dry out any goobies
I want all of the bones....the skull and especially the vertebra
I am beginning my prayers today.........will do it on Sunday
I will make the regalia and staff that I was told to make by Spirit, what I need that for.....I guess I will know later
Feels good to have finally accepted the responsiblily of Eagle Medicine.......................here I go:boing:I am sure it will be an incredible journey

Your post reminded me of tapping the bone technique for some reason. Not something I've done explicitly myself but I came across it from Peter Paddon's podcasts and also here:
The Bone is traditionally a skull, and in simpler times would have literally been the skull of an ancestor. For us it is more practical to use a beautiful life-size pewter skull, covered in Celtic knotwork. This represents the Ancestors, and when we activate the altar, part of it is to 'breathe life' into the ancestors, that we may enflesh their legacy. We always invite them to attend our rites, and at our initiations they are an essential component, as the candidate is first fostered into the family, and then later, when the ancestral memories have been shown to be active in them, adopted into the family as full members.
Our training is experiential - we learn by doing, and the exercises we do are designed more to awaken those ancestral memories than they are to teach us technique. We do use technique, but once the memories are awakened, we find that the tools that got us there often fall away to allow the inherent processes to take over. We also seek to expand our understanding of Lore, and that is where tapping the bone comes in. Alongside our practical work, we make use of myth, poetic language and riddles to help us to uncover the underlying principles of our practice, for if we understand the principles, we can devise new or improved practical techniques. Tapping the bone refers to tapping into the ancestral memories in order to work through these mythic, poetic or riddling concepts. It is a form of directed gnosis. The result of this is that the Tradition itself evolves, never static, always changing, as we discover new lore or reclaim lore that was lost.

He's a traditional witch now (ex-Alexandrian Wiccan). Perhaps that's why you need the skull? Not sure if I'm just talking gibberish or not lol but thought I'd mention it anyway. I'm sure Deerwoman can elaborate on this a bit more or correct me if I've misunderstood what it's about.

I'm confused. Are you planning to use the body and body parts of a literal golden eagle in some way? If you live in the USA, I'm pretty sure that's a crime of some sort, given that the Golden Eagle was (last I checked) endangered...I'm not familiar with the laws as of right now, as opposed to my last known facts and facts I think I know...but this question has been nagging my brain for over a week, and since I'm totally bored I thought I'd ask :P

The golden eagle is definitely a protected species in the United States and it is also protected under Ontario's Endangered Species act. I don't know much about Canadian law, though, so I don't know if Ontario's act effects Saskatchewan..?

I'd assume Saskatchewan has a similar act. I can tell you that there are steep criminal penalties in the US for messing with endangered animals...not to mention that Shamanism itself is ideologically against that sort of thing on principle :uhhuhuh:

both golden and bald eagles are illegal to have unless you have permission for spiritual reasons/purposes
A golden eagle was hit by a car right by my house.....I turned it into the game warden....who brought it to the vets to make sure it was not shot......
I wrote a letter to the government asking for the bird back for spiritual reasons and i was given back the Golden Eagle with legal papers allowing me to have it in my possession...........................I am not allowed to sell any parts
Now your brain can rest...........:uhhuhuh:

Lol...my brain NEVER rests :P But I'm glad you're respecting the resources that you're going to be defending and representing as a Shaman :)

Oh - I guess I'd inferred that you were looking down that path. Same as me, I guess...a little here and there of everything and nothing :) I don't know much about Shamanism, but the concept itself intrigues me to no end. Keep us posted - hope your quest along the path before you is a good one :)
