Greetings all, and best wishes.

Now, I was intending on waiting some time to post my first thread, but unfortuneately this has been thrust upon me. I have one "mundane" pleasure in life, and that is my enjoyment of football (american). Bear with me on this one. I have only moments ago discovered that the commisioner of the NFL is now "considering" allowing Michael Vick to return to the league and resume his career.
For those of you who do not know, Vick is a convicted felon. What was his crime? Racketeering, Purjury, and multiple counts of animal cruelty. This man,(and I use the term loosely), condoned the kidnapping of various peoples dogs, beat and tortured them,(ripping out the teeth of some to use as "sparring partners" for the fighting dogs so they could not hurt them), tied and restrained the females so the males could basically rape them, and when they became too crippled to fight... murdered them, plain and simple. Then after he was caught, he lied to federal investigators.
He served an incredibly short jail sentence in a federal resort, where I feel the term should have been considerably longer, and now is under "house arrest" and crying for his job back. Worse yet is that the commisioner is really considering it!
I am sure this news will upset a great many of you, but needless to say, as a druid and "gaurdian of nature" and all her gifts, I am beyond outraged! I actually want to run him through, or put him in a room with my own dog,(a beautiful lobo, wolf/siberian husky named Natalya) and watch her make a meal out of him. I'd just be worried he'd upset her stomache.
I would like any and all of you to join me in sending a curse his way...

Sending a curse? I won't go that far, but I agree he is a sad excuse for a human being. Dog-fighting, in my view, is a really disturbing and cruel act. The average sentences given for animal cruelty are often times way too short...

I don't get why he did it anyway..you'd think he'd have enough money from his football career? and on top of it..he thinks hes above the law. Blah.

I don't do curses, but I certainly do hope the NFL commissioner comes to his senses and never allows Michael Vick to play again. He is a horrible horrible person.

I don't know why he did it, and truthfully, I don't care. There is no justification for actions of such a nature. A wise man once said that we are judged in the next life by how we treated those who were defenseless against us,(ie: animals, children, etc.). I would'nt want you to place curses against your judgement, especially if you're one who believes in the threefold law, as I am certain even without, his own karmic retribution will likely work in accordance or at least conjuntion with my will and wishes.

If I had the magical skill to hit him with one I'd join with you, just for the hell of it...a witch who cannot hex cannot heal, and one of Hekate's witches should be at least somewhat acquainted with dishing it out a bit - not to mention I'm metal, not sugar-pop :P

That said, even if metaphysical karma doesn't get him, someone or something will...he's bound for badness if he keeps that crap up :bigredgri

Thank you for your support on this BA, and remember if, "if you can visualize it, you can do it." Also, it is true that one must be able to be both sides of the spectrum to truely be the spectrum.

Maybe I am that good - I just try to help my girl magically and she's always told me it helped a "little bit" - usually with healing or whatever. So I assumed I wasn't very strong - but it's worth a shot :)

And everyone calls me BA...everyone :D

I have no problem placing curses and willingly add my energy to yours. Personally, I am visualizing an animal activist with a severely violent mental illness catching this guy in a dark alley and putting him through what he put those dogs through.

I like this. I like this a lot.

Animal abusers are one of the few that I would really consider cursing. Like others, however, I will leave it up to karma (in the form of angry animal activists, hopefully. :cutie: )

He did his time, I have no problem in the NFL allowing him back if any team will take him.

It's a simple fact that sports figures are often seen as heroes by their fans. This man should never be placed in a position where he could be seen as hero by anyone until he does as much to show that he's learned his lesson about cruelty to other life forms as he did to harm that great number of dogs.

I rarely do curses, but in this case I think a binding would be most appropriate - that he will not be seen as anything but a scumbag until he more than makes up for the evil he has done.

Thanks. Myself, I found out a long time ago that sometimes what folks call karma is strangely absent when it comes to celebrities, so I lend a little "eye opening" energy.

You crack me up. I swear you look for topics so you can post an opposing opinion just to see what happens :rotfl:

Part of his punishment was the loss of his career. To give it back to him would be to condone what he did...IMO.

Oh, I don't care about sports myself. The NFL is full of thugs anyway :P

But the fact remains...this kind of behavior is pretty sick and deserves a kick in the head. I just...hmm. I have moral qualms about passing further judgment above and beyond what the US courts have already set - but here's an idea:

I'll ask Hekate to give him what he deserves. She's my matron and if she's half the badass the later mythology claims, he'll be wishing he'd left those dogs alone. Plus, one of her sacred animals is a dog....hmmm...this has potential.

*tosses up a quick but heart-felt prayer....do what's right, not what I want.*

Maybe a bit Christian of me, but probably the best I can do without sentencing the guy twice for the same crime :uhhuhuh:

I'll gladly join in on this one.

And for those saying Karma will get him... beyond the misunderstanding of what Karma is... who's to say that a curse isn't the universe's way of giving someone what they deserve?

He did his time, but did he learn the lesson that you don't steal the pets of others, you dont mame and abuse? Faeawyn is correct, part of his punishment was the loss of career.

I always thought that viewpoint was highly interesting. I like it...makes me envision myself as a lone gunslinger dishing out justice :P

Well, that's the thing. Punishment doesn't teach you anything...but I only see us discussing punishing him more. My thing is, he's already been sentenced for his crime by both the NFL and a criminal court. If we punish him further, it's sentencing him for the same crime - not cool, according to the American ideal of justice. Either bind him or leave it up to the Gods...but don't make him serve time he wasn't sentenced for.

If the sentencing was too lenient, and obviously so, I'd be up for this. But we're about to go Batman on some guy over a bunch of dogs - doesn't that strike any of you as a bit over the top?

~Jon - who has already turned it over to Hekate :boing:
