Im taking my car to aamco this morning. It is having transmission problems. Please, please, please keep your fingers crossed this is a small transmission problem and my whole transmission doesnt need replacing. I cant afford to fix a small problem but a friend has offered to help. There is no way I can get a new transmission. Im about to finish my externship for phlebotomy and start at a real college in the fall. Being without a car would seriously hurt my chances of getting my externship finished and getting to school.

Thank you so much,

Kindra

:hugz: I hope things go okay and only a small adjustment or changing the fluid is needed, a new transmission is expensive!!

Thank you so much everyone. It is almost 2 and I havent heard anything. Plus my teacher called and I should have my off site externship this week. Without a car Im unable to go. I need to get my externship done so I can move on to a better school. I feel like my life is on hold because of this school and now because of my car. Grrr I need it to be an easy fix.

**EDIT**

I got the call from my teacher. My externship starts tomorrow at 8:30.

I called the car place. My transmission needs to be rebuilt. It will cost $2500 - $2980.

well, having it rebuilt is cheaper than getting a new one. If you can, ask for a second opinion somewhere else. Rebuilt transmissions don't last as long. The investment is proportional to the car- if it's old and has a lot of miles you may be able to get a new used car for the same price.

best wishes!

Oh, WR...that really stinks! Is there any way you could use public transportation for a while, just until you could save up to fix the car? Or maybe see if a local community action agency could help in any way, maybe with transportation vouchers or something?

fasted does not make sense in this sentence, perhaps you mean fastest

Well I cried and had a pitty party. Then I called a friend who is a truck driver and asked if I could borrow his truck while he is on the road. Thank goodness for good friends. Another friend is on his way to get me now so we can go get the truck.

SO I dont have my car but I will make it to my externship tomorrow. I can plan beyond that later.

Thank you so much everyone. If it wasnt for you all I would have had a much bigger melt down over my car problems!!!

I got my friends truck so I will make it to my first day of externship tomorrow. It doesnt solve the car problem but does put a band aid on it and well Im not in tears having an anxiety attack over it any more.

Thank you SO much everyone! I know your prayers and love were what helped keep my tears to a minimum!!

Over the years my family has had to borrow cars and trucks from friends several times. Thank goodness for friends. Sorry the news about your car's tranny wasn't very good. I had to get mine replaced once and was bored out of my gourd for 9 days with no car to drive. No car to borrow that time.

Willow, I'm so sorry about the transmission... :hugz: We have one car that needs some transmission work too... And even though my husband works at a car dealership and does get a small discount, it's going to be very expensive.

It's so sweet of your friend to lend you his truck while he's on the road. Like others have said, thank the stars for friends.

:hugz: and love to you, Willow.

I'm so glad that you were able to make it to your externship! I know how very hard you've worked to make it this far, and I'm so proud of you! I'm going to be sending you wishes for a good, more permanent solution down the road for your transportation issues. In the meantime, have some :hugz:.
