Or perhaps people care more about a musical genius that was an easy target due to his eccentric demeanor over some guy who could throw a ball good.
Or more to the point, who is Steve McNair and why should I or anyone give a shit?

I don't care either way. Just another dead person... *shrug*

I don't really either, but I'm wondering where all the people are who are compassionate about all deaths and pour out there hearts whenever someone who has touched millions of lives have died.

Did he touch millions of lives? I'd never heard the name before, and I doubt I'm not the only one. :)
Edit: that's not to say that I'm cold hearted about it it... it's always a tragedy when someone's killed, no matter the situation.

He is probably fairly unknown outside of the states, however given the number of NFL fans, it is not unreasonable to say he has touched millions of lives

Well, I figure people pour out their hearts for people they actually care about... if at all? :hahugh: I'm sure the odds are there are fans of this guy just like MJ or Billie Mays and will be upset and what not.
Me? Eh whatever, don't care about any of these. Another one bites the dust...

Touched millions of lives?
I have no idea who Steve McNair is.
I am sure football fans will be saddened by the news, if he was any good. :whatmewor

The average attendance of football games is 70,000. With 15 games a week on average, for a weekly average attendance just over 1 million. Now most fans don't go to every game so it would be safe to assume that the yearly attendance (17 weeks) is well over 10 million people...then you have all of the fans who can not afford to go or don't have a team in their area...you have to be looking at at least 25 million...considering the superbowl is viewed by nearly 100 million, and McNair did play in the superbowl, it is safe to say he has touched millions of lives.

Ok....well I am sure he did then, and I am sure football fans will be saddened by his death. But you really can't expect that someone who played American football is going to receive the same type of attention as someone who touched millions of lives all over the world? Regardless of whether people liked him or not, more people worldwide know who MJ is and would be at least curious about his death.

The point is there were many in the Jacko thread who went on about how people should be saddened and sympathetic no matter what their opinions of him were, because the death of anyone who touched millions of people was a tragedy. Those same people don't give a rats ass when it is not someone they adore. My point being the hypocrisy of those people, several of which have been on here today but have not bothered to post in this thread.

Chill out, man, there's no need to be so hostile. The fact is that a lot more people are aware of Michael Jackson than of Steve McNair.
Back on the topic that you started, this is a shocker, indeed. Double homicide (if indeed that's what happened) is always horrific, no matter what. And, while I'm not the biggest football junkie in the world, I was knocked for a loop over it.

Between the gun being by the young woman and the fact police are not looking for suspects it appears to be a homicide/suicide...we will know more after the autopsies tomorrow.

I see....I didn't follow that other thread.
In that case I agree with you, if you are going to say it's a tragedy whenever an "idol" passes on, then that should apply to them all. On the same note though, if you didn't know them, you might not feel the need to post a comment. That doesn't mean those people didn't still agree with their original thoughts? Or.....maybe I should just keep my mouth shut since I didn't read the other thread.

I'm not saying you should...however when I made lightly of Jacko's death and said I didn't give a shit there were those who said I should because he touched millions of lives. Given that litmus test I think those who attacked me and others for not giving a shit should be in here crying about this death

If you didn't give a shit then why even be in the thread? I've never heard of this footballer guy, nor had I heard of that informercial guy who died a few days ago, or that McMahon guy. So instead of going into the thread, mocking the deceased and those who were genuinely mourning them, I just kept out.
Same with this guy. Never heard of him, but I'm not going to take the piss out of him, or those who were fans of him. What's the point?
