This thread probably could go in a number of different spots but since I follow mainly a shamanic pathway I figured I'd place it here.

When one enters into the occultist / pagan / heathen / first world pathways they are introduced to a number of concepts that are not to be found in the Son religions. While there are many venues one could discuss, I am going to focus mainly on realms of reality and places.

As I have walked this pathway I have been introduced to the notion of the astral realm, the etheric realm, the mundane realm, the quasi-mundane realm and perhaps a dozen other's over the years. This doesn't even begin to touch upon the notion of the world tree and the upper / middle and lower world realms.

The mundane realm is pretty easy to identify, it is the realm we a living and breathing creatures reside upon. It is the physical world upon which we live and explore.

The astral and etheric realms are not so easy to define. Some say the astral is the border realm that is just beyond the mundane. It is the place where our spirits separate from the physical body and are allowed to move about without limits of time, space and distance. That place where we weave our magic’s and experience the energy, though it is described as positive.

The etheric is sometimes said to be the next out from the astral while others have told me it is more akin to a separate dimension of reality. Either way it is to me that place were energy is the form used and what we encounter there is not restrained by our notions of time, space and dimension. Almost as if it is the negative and energy source for those things outside our normal parameters.

Of point to my teachings one may reach the astral simply by projecting their spirit or undergoing an out of body experience. Yet to reach the etheric one must project the energy of self and its essence. A process where the mind stands a chance of being destroyed for all boundaries are gone.

The quasi-Mundane is more a special place we create for ourselves. It holds some facets of the astral in that it is reached via projection or OBE, but also is subject to the realities of our world. Yes we can push the barrier but much of it is still subject to the pull of the mundane.

One as a shamanic practitioner also faces the dimensions of self which some equate to the notion of the world tree or the three dimensions of upper world, middle world and lower world. Either way they (It) are more so a location contained within the practitioner and can be either simple or difficult to reach. To some it is the most dangerous of places for it is also the location of ones shadow self and that self has free range upon those plateaus.

There are other places that one may journey to, the Barrier or veil between the living and the dead, the vortex, even the abyss. Each defined and equated as we each understand and relate to them. But not all apparent to each calling nor believed to exist by them.

So how do you define the possible realms of your reality?

In my experience I have not found just 3 but am infinite number of realities, dimensions.
There are many rabbits holes all leading to something different.
Some are so different its beyond the total comprehension of the human mind.

I dont know where such a limited amount of 'worlds' came from but IME there are many and there are worlds between the worlds.

This is how I learned we are not all cut from the same thread on the same fabrics. There are lots of different fabrics out there and many threads in each one.

Oh I readily agree. There are so many worlds, demensions and realms within realms that it is almost impossible to imagine them all much less give them names. I usually refer to the whole scheme as the well of worlds for there are so many possibilites it boggles the mind at times. Some so far removed from our minds ability to comprehend that it tortures the mind to even try to think about it.

I just used the most common ones that seem to be mentioned in the hopes that it might inspire some discussion on the notion. It seem's all anyone really talks about is the astral and thier battles there or creature's they meet. Yet I wondered if they really new what it was or really gave it any though.

I think it sad actually that more people have not entered into this discussion.

As you probably know I believe in infinite realms and realms within realms within realms going yet another direction towards infinite, I am also sad no one else talks about different realms than the astral, im tired of hearing about the astral, what about the fae realm.
