I had a dream the other night where I was in an ancient gladiator type of arena. In this dream, a man, tall and thing, blonde hair, pale skin, and wearing nothing but a helmet and holding a spear. He was extremely androgenous as well. He came into my dream and was barganing with someone else over me. I didn't quite catch the name, but I felt is was some god trying to get my attention. I do know that the name started with a "D" and ended in a "US" It could have been Dionysus, but I'm not too sure. Anyone else has any ideas of who it may have been?

I can't think of a god who might fit that description. I don't know of a Roman god whose name begins with a "D" who would be associated with a gladiator spectacle. I doubt that the god was Dionysus, since Dionysus doesn't wear a helmet or have a spear. Also, gladiator events happened in Rome; thus, I would assume that Dionysus would go by his Roman name of Bacchus.

In my opinion, I think that you should examine the symbolism of your dream. I believe that dreaming of spear means that obstacles in your life will be cleared. I think that it is a positive message. Perhaps you can ask in the divination about your dream, or I could move the thread for you.

That sounds like a good idea. I'll most likely get more help there.

Hmmm....you say that the figure was androgenous - I'm getting that he could represent both the male and female aspects of the self - perhaps there is an inner conflict going on between the two - and the bargaining might factor into that. I'm getting that this conflict is in the process of being resolved simply by your receiving a message that it needs to be addressed. As Mnemosyne said, the spear represents assistance and power. I would also tend to think that the bargaining process would be a method of getting your attention - but this is not necessarily a god. He could simply be one of your guides, and it does seem that he tried to reveal his name. I envy you because I have only gotten one specific name from a guide and the rest remain nameless. If you strongly feel that this is a god, you might do some research into deities and if this is the case, the name should be revealed to you eventually.

There are things I must admit that are troubling me. But I can't think of any inner conflicts with my male and female aspect. Or at least I'm not aware of at the moment.

I didn't think of a guide. It may be possible. The reason I'm wondering if someone, guide or god, is trying to get my attention is because I heard the same voice the next day when I woke up. But then again, that could contribute to the fact I'm trying to remember the name.

:) The purpose of dreams is often to make us aware, and if that's the case, it should come to you shortly. And the inner conflict might be something else you're struggling with. I'm still picking up that some sort of merging or resolution needs to happen.

The more I think about it...the more I think you may be onto something there.
