Every year for Christmas Hubby gets The Old Farmers Almanac. As I was thumbing through the 2003 edition I found an interesting little article. I was hoping they had the full article on their web-site so that I could share it with you - they didn't but I have posted what they had. Just scroll down a bit and you'll find it.

Be sure and check out "get a virtual tea leaf reading" I don't feel it's very accurate, but it's neat.:)
I hope ya'll enjoy this and maybe you can borrow and Almanac from someone to read the full article.

Excellent. I think this is the first year Pa didn't get it (he got the Canadian Farmers' Almanac - or something like that)
I haven't got a chance to go all the way through it yet though...

I never really looked at the Farmer's Almanac until this past year; in fact, that's where some of the Cat Divinatioin info I posted not too long ago came from, and I was surprised to see how much info on astrology, etc. is in there! It appears that it was used frequently by pagans before pagan-specific almanacs came out, and is still used.......
Here's a thread on tasseomancy (tea leaf reading) that has some instruction on how to do this form of divination:

Thanks for the reminder, WC! My hubby likes to get them also...I knew I had forgotten something, and since he hasn't come home with one yet, so did he!
Now I can surprise him for....January 6 - Celtic Day of the Three-fold Goddesses. He won't know what hit him!

I have not read the Farmer's Almanac in ages! Well, I too opened up the 2003 Almanac and found the bit on tea leaves. Does the almanac generally have a bit on divination in it?

Well, I don't know if divination would be a typical article. but it does feature astronomical tables, planting charts, moon phases, bits on the tides, holidays, eclipes and folklore. No farmers (or witches) home should be without it!;)
