Yes they are. Most of them are really good advice that seems obvious, but it's helpful when things are stated simply like that. Then there are ones like "Rule your wife" which I could do without :lol:

I've always kind of cringed when I read that one. Now I take it more to mean that a man should let his wife know when she's acting like a butt - and conversely, the woman should do the same for her husband.

It's all about reciprocation. LOL

Thanks for posting them, they're quite cool, although I might question the "intend to get married" one, and certain other ones, but, most seem like good advice, again, thanks for listing them :) :thumbsup:.

I think the issues raised in this thread about the maxims can be put to rest when we consider cultural appropriation. ;) Some of them are no longer relevant within our culture, but can be adapted, or be used as a useful tool in understanding the ancient mindset.

I love the maxims...I should look at them more! I have them saved on my computer and used to review them often; underlining ones I needed to focus on.
