View Full Version : Did you ever just KNOW something...?

I wanted to ask you guys about something I have experienced my whole life - KNOWING things. I mean, just suddenly knowing something that I couldn't possible have know.

It's as though I will suddenly have a thought, to give an actual example "My brother has been taken to hospital" and think, 'where did that come from?' As if it wasn't MY thought - then it will invariably turn out to be right. In the example I just gave, one day my younger brother was taken into hospital after being in a fight (teenage boys, tsk tsk) and I KNEW. I was in school at the time and couldn't possibly have known, but a lightbulb just came on in my head and I had the knowledge, as if someone else had placed it there. This happens quite frequently, but the thing is - I don't seem to be able to control it. I can't turn it on or off, it just happens.

All this was really a round-about way of asking; does anyone know a way I can develop this ability, harness it maybe? Also...does this happen to anyone else? I'm the only one I know who has it, and I feel a bit isolated. :(

Nope. You're not alone. Happens to me, too, on occasion. Last time it happened in a really major way, I just knew that my Aunt Debbie was truly not going to have another child, even though she was pregnant. (Turned out to be a phantom pregnancy. That's where your body shows all the signs of being pregnant, excep that there's no baby inside. After four months, her body went back to normal.) Before that, I just knew there was going to be a white horse up a driveway back in Massachusetts when I was on a drive with my Aunt Barbara and her boyfriend (before she came to terms with being a lesbian). **shrugs** Lately, "wish"craft has been more my style, but apparently I still think very loudly, too.

As to how you can develop this Gift.... **shakes head** Not a clue. Not really sure I'd want to train it, even if I could. Takes the fun out of life when you know everything before or as it happens.

Yeah all the time. It happens especially when you start studying and working with Pagan paths or magic, because you're opening yourself up to things like divination and the divine being right with you rather then farther away (or not there at all).

To encourage it, mostly you can just believe it! Listen to your intuition, most of the time it can't hurt. There are simple games like going through a deck and guessing which card you're holding without looking, or with a friend you can try to project or receive symbols. Mostly though I think it just develops over time as long as you let yourself open up to it.

You're not alone. A couple of years ago, I was living in England. My aunt in NY was pregnant. One night I KNEW she was in labor, I KNEW it was a girl, and I KNEW her name would be Alyssa. I was right on all counts-it really freaked me out. *g*
I wish I knew how to develop it-I agree with Raevyn: know that it's there, listen to it, and appreciate it. Maybe you could learn a form of divination(pendulum, runes, tarot, etc.), or study dream interpretation to see if you're getting signals while you're asleep. Just ideas. :D

Yup. I've had it happen on several occasions, though, none of which I feel like talking about now. Though, I know that if I tell people IRL, they'll think I'm nuts or something.

I have been wondering myself for a few years how it was possible to harness it.....somehow someway...but...I also think its one of those things that shouldn't be....I have had numerous experiences...since I was like 3...some things are meant to known...and most of it, I am glad I know somehow...there generally always was some reason I could think of to justify it somehow...

For the record Flaire, you can't be any crazier than I am.... ;)
You can always tell me...:D

If you find something out Erin, let me know!

Yes, I have that as well. Runs in the family. I agree that it is something you have to be open to and learn to trust in. I don't know of anyway personally of controling it or making it stronger.

Yep yep... No major things, but sometimes I just KNOW my mom or my boyfriend will call, and a second later the phone rings. Sometimes I just know the phone will ring, and it does (though it's not for me). I can even hear on the signal when it is my mom calling.

The other night, my boyfriend was with a couple of friends at a friend's place, and he was going home by taxi with one of the guys. I just got this feeling I should look out the window, and as I did so, the taxi stopped by the sidewalk.

So, no major things, but it happens...

This used to happen to me on a daily basis. It was really starting to bother me, so I closed myself off a bit more. Then I started getting the information in dreams.

So I think I'm just meant to be psychic or something. I don't really know.

Yep. I've had it happen to. Many times. Mine come in the form of dreams or just as random thoughts. One day I was in school in 7th grade and something told me that my Mom was in the school and I was about to get called down to the office. A few seconds later, I hear "Mrs. Trecscle, can you send Sara down to the office? Her Mom is taking her home", and I knew it was something bad. Come to find out, my Mom was taking myself and my sisters home because someone who had been close to us had committed suicide. So...lol. You're not alone :)

Hiya :)

Yeah I've had that stuff happen to me, more or less.

For example, in high school I used to "pretend" to "read auras". I could imagin these auras around people. And I could feel them. So I'd stand behind someone, put my hands around their aura and feel it.

Well, one day I was doing this to a chick named Tye Dye. No kidding. First name Tye, last name Dye. Spelling might be wrong, but that's what it was. I swear.

Anyhow. I was doing it... I asked stupid questions that I figured would be true anyway...
"Is your heart fluttering?"
"Yes..."
"Do you have cold feet?"
"Yes..."

Then I stopped and asked her, not really knowing ANYTHING about her at all, "Did someone in your family recently die??" just because it came to me all the sudden like that.

She said no and that was that.

Weell that was at breakfast, before classes. During break after 1st period, she came up to me and told me that half an hour after I was doing her aura thing, she said that she found out her neice was dead. Her baby neice, I think it was. And I think she said that she was having some problems for awhile. I knew nothing about it. I was so terribly spooked, I haven't done it since.

But yeah. I used to tell people what they were going to have for dinner, what they had for dinner the night before (It always seemed to be chicken O.o).

I used to be able to tell when a certain episode would be on for a favorite TV show. I mean, I'd just start thinking about this one episode of a tv show, like Perfect Strangers, and then it'd come on, usually 2 - 3 days later.

I've learned to keep my little "predictions" to myself. It seems like everytime I say that somethings going to happen, if I say it, it won't happen, then I feel like a fool. I hate looking/sounding stupid.

One week, just within the last few months, my bf and I nearly hit about 4 different deer on the road out here (we live out in the boonies). About 3 to 5 minutes before each near collision, I saw a strange black shape... not really outside along the road, but kinda floating there. You know, how you stare at a light and look away, close your eyes and you see different colored shapes? It was like that. It was just infront of my eyes.

Anyhow, my suggestion for maybe growing your little talent, is something I heard on TV or... something. Say whatever comes to your mind, often. It's supposed to exercise your ability.

I strongly believe that there is some kind of 'magic' in everybody. Be it this type or another type. Some have very little, some have a lot. You just happen to have a strong ability for this kind.

Sorry about the rambling.

may your magic never falter.
