uh Loopy--hon, Diana is also associated as being with dogs and cats. Dogs because hers never left her side and Cats because she could shapeshift into one.

just an additional note on quetzacoatl. He was portrayed as a feathered serpent with birds wings, rather than just as a serpent. the name derives from the quetzal bird. Not being nasty, just adding some more info about Him.

great list. missed out Djehuti (thoth) though. Egyptian scribe of the Gods, Creator of language, writing, medicine, alchemy, etc. He's associated with ibis and baboons. There were places where baboons would call as the sun rose, waking Djehuti with their calls.

Odin (eagle, Ravens, hounds)

Horus (Hawk)

Just saw a few holes that I couldn't ignore, thanks for the list as I am also very much into spirit animals as guilds. This could be very helpful to those looking for a sign from thier diety. These Gods have shown thier presence to me in the symbol of animals.

It's been a while since I checked, but I think I've spotted a few more missing animals. Osiris, I believe, is also associated with the hawk, Thoth with the owl, and Ishtar is definitely connected to the lioness.

Also let's not forget Babi, the old Egyptian baboon-god. :)

Here are some for Kali. The crane is Kaliís sacred bird. All black animals, but especially dogs, sheep, and birds are sacred to her.

Thoth and owls? I can sort of see the connection, but this is the first time i've heard it. i can't find any reference to owls in any of the books i have on Ancient Egypt. I'm not sure this is correct. Perhaps this connection stems from the Greeks rather than the Egyptians themselves.
