Thyla ~ I moved your questions here into this new thread:

Who is my patron God/dess? I wish I knew!!!!
For some time now I have wondered who my god/dess(s) were. I've been told to meditate on it, but knowone has told me/showed me how to meditate correctly. When I was part of a local coven, my high priestess told me to research them and pick one that I liked. Does she realize how many versions there are of the same diety, just using different names from different races/societies/backgrounds?? Besides, how do you know if you have chosen the right one? How do they make themselves known to you (or in this case, me)?

Can anyone help me, either tell me how to meditate on this so that I may be chosen by a god/dess or point me in the direction of a good book, web page, etc... that will give me detailed descriptions and connections between the different names?

I am facinated by the GreenMan (but I have a celtic heritage). Also, an ex-lover of mine gave me a sketch of Diana as huntress with the head of a wolf (she said that it reminded her of me ). The Grey Wolf is my guardian animal, does this mean that Diana is my goddess

Any assistance would be appriciated and I'm sorry for the LONG post !

Thanks in advance for the help.
Brightest Blessings on you and yours!
Thy'la

Something that might work for you is water-gazing. It's very peaceful and relaxes the mind. Take a glass or metal bowl (I'm a Traditionalist, and we avoid plastics) and fill it with a bit of water. Place it on a table and place a lighted candle behind it ~ you can choose whether to let the flame reflect in the water or not; some find that distracting. Some will add a bit of food coloring (a drop or two) (usually blue), just to give the water some "depth". Relax and just sit and watch the water. Pay attention to any seeminly random thoughts or patterns which come to mind or may "float" across the surface of the water.

You know beyond the shadow of a doubt. It's hard to describe, really ~ but you know like you know nothing else. They make themselves known in a myriad of different ways ~ it's hard to narrow it down to just one certain way, and that would be horribly limiting, too. Don't place limits on yourself, and especially don't place limits on Deity.

Not necessarily. One of my animals is the Kentucky Cardinal. ;)

ah, yes, that is a "swell" way... I, personally, like to stare off into space, losing myself and the time. Its fun, intresting, and often freaks people out when done in public. (Remember, I am a pro in tuning out people, it may not work for others)

It is so strange you start this thread I was just about start one just like it. Well anyways. I have always believed in Pan or GreenMan. YOu could could call him my God if you wish, but I will and forever worship the mother, Pan is simply my favorite and I feel most comfortable with him. But kinda confused... DO I worship him or the goddess???

In my opinion there is a BIG difference between honoring/respecting a god/goddess and worshiping them.

Take me for example....

I don't have any specific gods or goddesses that I'm close to (yet), I feel that I honor and respect the many faces of the god and goddess, and I can feel a close relationship and raport with them.....BUT I worship the goddess.
When I see the moon at night, my heart goes out to her. I am enraptured by her beauty, as I see it around me every day. I thank her for my life, for my friends, for everything... and I cry to her when I'm in pain. She is my Mother, she is my All. If I lost everything dear to me, I would go on because I still have her.
THAT is worship, IMO.

Now, you have to take how you feel about the goddess and Pan and figure it out for yourself. Just evaluate your feelings and see what you come up with...you'll figure it out. :)
