If I win the book (which it looks like I won't) I would donate it to the school where I am doing my practical assessment....

But this is only because I couldn't wait for the draw and bought the book anyway - because I own all the books and read them more than once. I don't just read and throw away - I have my own library, where visitors and myself can read books...

If I choose to no longer keep a book, I will usually donate them to a second hand shop, where they can sell them and raise money for those who need it.
