I only just heard of this rock recently, though I had seen it before, I just didn't know the name (that was a serious run-on sentence). Anyway, do any of you have some? What do you use it for?

I love labradorite. It's one of my favorite stones. The rolling blue under the surface of the matrix always reminds me of lightning. I like to use it in water magic, as well as with anything with a storm influence. It is also good for drawing down a very high energy level - a stone of transformation. It can also be associated with the waning moon - it's sort of like a very dark moonstone in that respect.

From http://www.crystalsandjewelry.com/metaphysicalproperties_l.html :
It clears, balances and protects the aura. It helps provide clarity and insight into your destiny. It attracts success. It is especially helpful for dream recall, and finding ways to use dreams in daily life. Stress and anxiety are reduced by labradorite. Labradorite increases intuition, psychic development, esoteric wisdom, and helps with subconscious issues, and provides mental illumination. Labradorite is associated with the solar plexus and brow chakras.

Labradorite (Blue feldspare), is gray with flashes of color.
Found in Norway, Finland, and Madagascar.
Like the colorful flash seen on the face of the rock, it helps shy people come out of their shell.
It strengthens and protects our aura.
It aids in communcation and our highest self and the creator.
It strengthens our will and encourages wise use of our mystic powers.

The scintillating colour play of the labradorite teaches us to become more familiar with our own diverse aspects and talents and put them to use. This will promote our personal growth and give us clearer realization of our task in life. It helps us master better our daily life with intuitive perceptions.

In Tarot it represents the "King of Cups" - Feelings, intution, responsible person, empathy, helpfulness, kindness & good advise.

Shadow aspect - Loss, scandal, deceitfulness, manipulation through feelings.

I happen to have several of these stones, if you do not have one, I will gladly send you one!!!! =)

Namaste,

"- it's sort of like a very dark moonstone in that respect."

Just wanted to point out, that what is most often called moonstone, the white stone with a blue shimmer in it, in 90% of all cases is not MOONSTONE but labradorite.

Moonstone is a Kalium Fieldspar while Labradorite is a Natrium Aluminium Silicate. These two stones are related, like cousins, but have different (healing) prosperities.

A gemy moonstone with blueish shimmer does exist though, and to make the confusion perfect, the white labradorite, people call moonstone has a trade name "rainbow moonstone" although geologically and healing wise it is no moonstone.

"ordinary" moonstone comes in colours of apricot-orange, white-ivory and greyish. if you would like to see picture material about this issue, and more infos, you can see it here:

Thank you! That was really interesting about the white labradorite.

I love labradorite and moonstones and wear a lot of both. I also have a labradorite sphere that I use for scrying. I find myself getting lost in the rainbow colours.

Labradorite is a lovely stone to just sit and watch the colors shimmer across the surface. Most labradorite that I've seen is actually a rather unexceptional brown-gray color, it is only when you hold it in the light so that it shimmers that you realize how amazing it is....

Labradorite is for me what clear quartz or amethyst is to a lot of other people...it's my all-purpose stone, I have a lot of it. I find it to be very protective, especially the more flashy pieces, as the are more reflective. I've also found it good to help with pain and to be a very calming. I have a set of runes made out of labradorite, and many many pieces.

I especially love the pieces that flash in purple, red, pink and orange...they're less common than the blue, green and yellow.

That reminds me, I need to find my purple labradorite pendant...it's been missing for a while now.
