View Full Version : Dreams of running making me tired..

Just figured I'd see if this happens to anyone else...
As of late (the last 2-3 weeks) it seems all my dreams have me running from different things - monsters, invading forces, Mother Nature's wrath, bad guys, cars, etc.. I'm always running. Sometimes alone, sometimes with my wife, sometimes with my kids, sometimes with all of us. Running through buildings, up and down stairs, through stores, down the street..
Now I imagine it's pretty obvious that it ties in with the fact that we are behind in our finances somewhat. Always running from the problems I'm faced with. In the 'real world' I try my best to control the stress and hassles that come with the daily trials we all face. I don't get all bent out of shape like I used to in years gone by. So I imagine that all the running is my subconcious trying to 'run away' from the finacial challenges, work challenges, time challenges, etc... But the big thing here is, when I wake up, I feel physically drained; as though I hadn't slept at all. Is it actually possible to dream of constantly running and have those dreams offset the 'rest' I should be getting? After I wake up and go to work, it only takes a couple of hours before I feel I need (and I mean NEED) to lay down and get some sleep.
Any advice on how to combat this?
Thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions.

Talk with someone about your financial situation, someone who will be able to advise you professionally about how to manage your money troubles. That will give your waking mind some peace, which will in turn give your subconscious a bit of peace, too.

That's kinda the wierd thing.....in years' past, I used to just obsess over money troubles. It actually consumed me. Worry, worry, worry....
Nowadays, things just seem to roll off my back like water on a duck.... If a bill is due or late, I call, make arrangements if possible; if not then I just tell myself "oh well...it's just money". I literally don't get all up in a roar about it anymore. (Can't suck blood from a turnip right? :) )
That's why I'm wondering why all of a sudden the running dreams. My waking mind seems to be at peace, but my sleeping mind is always running.
(Plus...isn't it funny (at least around here) that you either have to A) Pay for financial assistance, or B) turn your finances completely over to a group of strangers in order to get help.)
Thank you very much for your reply btw!

You know, that sounds very similar to the same complex I occasionally have, to where if I ever get hurt in my dreams, I wake up with that echo of pain on my body. And the body can become tired through the actions of the mind. These dreams for you are stress dreams. They, like you said, are rather obvious in their meanings, often expressing your wish to be free from something.
Now, since your dreams are based on stress, it’s incredibly tiring on your mind, and your brain is most active when it is dreaming, so I can imagine how the worry would be amplified. Oh, and I know how very easy it is to become tired from such mental activity.
Perhaps this could be helped through coming to a sort of peace with your financial stresses during the day. *Chuckles* Also, I feel like a fool for bringing this up so often, but meditation is such a wonderful way to sort through thoughts and emotions. It’s done wonders for me, as I am always surrounded in my own stresses.
Have you ever tried “white noise”? If you have never heard of it, white noise is the sound that can be produced through vacant radio stations - a soft sort of “shhh” sound. It is surprisingly soothing. There are some beliefs that this particular sound was the first noise ever emanated, creating life and growth.
You could try this right before bed, tuning your radio to a vacant station, and letting it lull you softly to sleep. Every time that I have personally done this, I have had a deeper, more restful night and calmer dreams.
Whatever your belief on it is, it seems to calm the human mind. Perhaps this can help you.

Sorry it took so long to respond back....
Yes, I have heard of it, but never tried it. (I guess the thought of that sound has never struck me as being 'relaxing') - yet, as you say, others have said that it is relaxing. I think I may just try that. Thank you for the advice and response! :)
