I can't remember which thread it was, but it was talking about dreaming in color and whatnot.

I don't remember EVER having a dream in black and white. I always have highly detailed and colorful dreams.

Has anybody here actually dreamed in B&W? I'm curious on that.

Not me...I always dream in colour. I think that's a myth started by psychologists for some bizarre reason known only to themselves

I've actually done both. Color dreams are more common, but I've had a couple in black and white. Tend to be a bit more surreal situations.

I've never had black and white dreams, mine are always colorful, and, unfortunately, can be bloody and gory...it sucks how I always get nightmares! lol

Do you think B&W related to what your dream was about?

This is just too funny--I just had to share... This is something my Art teacher used to love to tell us...I've modified it for the "now" time, even with that modification some of the younger folks may not "get it" but here it goes anyway: (Remember I'm 36!--graduate of High School back in the day of 1985...)

"...GenXers dream in color, our parents dream in B/W and our grandparents dream in radio..."

That STILL kills me! If you tell your parents (or grandparents) that one, they will probabaly laugh their hinneys off... especially if you're past 35, like me...

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Ever since I was a child, and up through last year, I used to dream strictly in B/W. I know this is queer, but ever since I've gotten into Tarot, all of my dream patterns have changed drastically! I no longer dream in black and white but in rich vivid color--not only that, I no longer dream of mundane day to day living, but of exciting adventures. The only thing I can really attribute to that big change is the Tarot reading. I've been doing Tarot now for about a year--started with the Thoth deck and dreaming has never been the same for me!

Go Figure!!!

Does everyone that dreams in color always have a color TV in the house? Does anyone else think that dreaming in B/W white actually has a very solid premise in having experienced of television viewing in black & white? I grew up with a B/W TV set, it wasn't till I was in High School that we actually got a color TV... Hmmm... food for thought, eh?

I came to the conclusion that dreaming in B&W is not about the color or lack of it... but the actions within.

Most people's actions are grey... when you notice someone doing something completely wrong, that is the black. Something completely positive that is the white. Those are generally the important aspects to pay attention to. They will either be exactly like something that is happening in your life, or completely opposite of it.

Lotus, my roomate used to have bloody gorey dreams constantly. He figured this was becaue of stress, and I think he's right 'cause I've had some pretty bloody violent dreams when I've been extra stressed.

Yaqui, I love that little line there. I'm 22 but I get it :) And I think it is a bit odd that your dreams changed like that when you started in on the tarot... *shrug*

And the black and white TV thing is an interesting idea. It might be worth it to take a poll of people who grew up with a black and white tv, and see what they say.

I grew up with a color TV in the living room and a peice of junk little black and white TV in my room. I watched my TV loads, but I really don't remember having b&w dreams.

Tensen, I like your conclusion, however it doesn't quite apply to my dreams... but still...

Thanks for commenting guys.

There ARE people who dream in B&W. People who have been colorblind since birth or since very early in thier development often dream in B&W because they dont know what color objects should be. A dream is created in your mind, your mind uses information from your brain to create things in the dream. A lover, a favorite food, a pet, even how sand feels when you walk on it. So if a person has never seen colors, thier brain wouldnt know to use colors in a dream or even what color was. It wouldnt matter if someone told them that "An apple is red." Because a colorblind person has no idea what "red" is and its hard to describe a color to a person who doesnt know what color is.

I dreamed in black and white once-it was a lot of fun!
I never had a black and white tv and tensen's ideas don't really apply. It was more of a surreal thing like iaphoenix mentioned. Mainly I dream in color, but the types of color tend to very. I think my subconscious gets bored easily! lol
