Grandson's dream

My 24 year old son Josh recently joined the navy.. he is very close to my daughters 5 year old son who is considered by the family to be very intuitive. I am left with a sick feeling because my grandson woke up crying a few nights ago with a dream that he and I went to pick Uncle Josh up..he was waving to us, but when my grandson and I got close to him there was blood running down my son's face. My grandson also said that I wanted to help josh but couldn't. I don't think my grandson has an idea that being in the navy could be dangerous..As of now my son is fine, but what could this dream mean?

I too have a five year old and they pick up on a lot more than they are given credit for even if they don't understand it. If your grandson has seen the news about Iraq and heard the stories, he may well be worried about his Uncle. At a normal 5 year olds understanding, the image of blood may be what he associates with death and injury, since most have never (luckily) seen anything beyond small wounds. Try talking to him and see if he associates the navy with what is going on overseas. Find out what he knows and has heard. I know here in Washington with all the military bases there is a lot of talk even among the children about where their families are and what is happening over there.
