You can do a few things if your new to Animal Guides.
Look up Animal Guide Meditations, there are many so choose the one your most comfortable with, My had a path thru a forest which led me to an old ancient building, a study and I pulled a book off the shelf which led me to my path Celtic and my name Autumn Clair and I was led by my Animal Guides.
Some have a bridge with a river

For those who are wondering, often the things you tend to collect will give you a clue to your animal spirit/guide

A good book dealing with animal guides/totems/fetishes in the Native American tradition, especially Zuni (southwestern United States) is Zuni Fetishes (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0062500694/qid=1074022369/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/102-2288726-8006516?v=glance&s=books) by Hal Zina Bennett. It deals with not only the fetishes and their medicine, but also how to cosult them, properly care for them, and more.

"Animal Speak" by Ted Andrews is good. It has tons of different animals with tons of information on each.
I have this cute little thing on what kind of guy a girl will marry depending on the first bird she sees on Valentine's Day, but I don't think that really counts. Besides, I don't want to spoil the surprise.

Here is a very interesting article y'all might be interested in reading. It pertains to understanding the relationship between us and animal guides. Thought it was a great read. http://www.shamanist.com/files/animals.htm
Also, if you're interested in the Native American (especially those tribes of the southwestern United States) view of animal totems, or fetishes as they call them, and the proper care, etc. of them then this is the article for you: http://www.shamanist.com/files/animals.htm

This site has a bunch of different information on animal totems/fetishes. It includes information on Totem Birth Animals, a Totem Animal Meditation, how to work with them, more specific information dealing with Animal Totems from both a Celtic and a Native American persepective, and a bunch more stuff.
Happy reading. :reading:

Autumn Clair and others-
Thank you very much for starting this thread! I was beginning to think that maybe i was the only one interested in working with Animal Spirit Totems!
I'm very excited because my wife bought me a set of Medicine Cards by Sams and Carlson, and i have wanted them ever since I had a reading in them over 14 years ago! You could say the time was very ripe for me to get in touch with them, however I didn't realize i was already working with the animal guilds in meditation, Crow, hawk and Eagle to name a few!
I would strongly suggest you check these out if you havn't done so already!
