What's the general opinion on the bos- Should it be hand writtened or typed? Have read that generally it's supposed to be by hand, and have also read that in this day in age it has become typed on the computer. Have you noticed how almost every book gives two diffrent stories for darn near everything?!?! Which is good, and bad! Just when I think I've got something figured out....

i feel handwritten, it gives it a much more special feeling if you personaly write it in your BOS.
Just my opinion.

I agree.....handwritten. This way....it's part of you. I have a typed one....but I don't feel very close to it. (It's in a 3 ring binder with page protectors over every page. )
So, I'm going to buy the parchment paper, and make tea ink. I am then going to use the Turkey feather I found on a nature walk for the "pen/quill". I feel that your energy will flow into the documents and have a very special feel to it. :D I'm still going to use the binder and the page protectors....would hate to have something so beautiful ruined by a sudden downpour or because the clutz came out in me! :D

Thanks for sharing your opinions with me, I think I agree with you. The one thing I was looking at is I have bad hand writing. Sometimes I can't even read it, but really who's going to see it but me anyway! Thanks!!

Well, I for one use both methods, and don't see a problem with typing out information for your BOS. It's yours, you decide how you keep the information. There is no right or wrong way.

Well said Kaylara :D
I personally started off with typing it, but then not only did I find it impersonal, but I kept on learning more, and so I had to go back to the computer and write it all in again and print it all off again...wasted a hell of a lot of printer ink. *but* I also want to hand down my BOS if and when I have children to them, and I feel that they'll know more about me (?!?!?!) if its handwritten.
Sorry im rambling.......

I think it depends on how you feel. I'm on the computer almost every hour I'm not asleep so to me typing is as familiar and personal and writing... I have a BoS and DoS (zip disk) with correspondences, herbs, and everything else. Right now I'm thinking of designing my own Trad and keeping it available for the next generations of my family.

Me read my handwriting in the dark? I don't think so ;) Having a handwritten BoS to use as a ritual cookbook is simply impractical for me; without decent lighting, I couldn't use it. While having a handwritten one is all nice and romantic, having a digital copy has extra practical value if you want to make little changes here and there without recopying the entire rite, or the entire book if you're not using a folder where the contents can be moved around.

I have mine handwritten because of personal preference. I wrote mine in Seax runes for additonal privacy seeing as how I have three roommates. BB.

I am doing both.
There are things I want hand written, for one, that I will remember better if I write it down. There are things that I have just printed off of the net too. Yesterday, I found a great page on harvesting herbs. That, to me, was easier and more appropriate to just print. Rituals and prayers I hand write.
Right now, my BoS is in its very early stages, as am I. It is a 3 ring binder, divided into sections. One of the things I want to do during my year and a day, is to work on that, re-write the things I want done neatly, get it better organized, decorate and concecrate it.
Anyway, I am of the opinion that you do what feels right to you. Make it yours!

It's always up to you...I used to type, now I write it by hand...it makes me feel good to have it there in my handwriting....it's a part of the discipline of it I think.

Mine is handwritten, I feel that way it is more connected to my energy... plus actually writing all the information down by hand makes it "stick" better in my memory aswell. :)

Most of mine is handwritten now. I also have some stuff I've printed off the computer included in it. I'm in the process of making my own, in the fashion that some people make homemade photo albums. Same concept, just a different type of book.

Who's to say that witches of the past would not have used the computer if they had access to one? :D

My computer's soo handy now, and I use it so often that I think it might hold more power than a pen or paper. I store all the nifty Goddess devotions and such from the G + G forum, and all various info.. it's pretty nifty, and typing goes so much faster than writing.
I also keep a journal, which I don't write in all *that* much. Especially now that I put up my blog. I'm planning on saving for one of those great Brahm's BOS', and then transfer all the important stuff there. That'll probably be more like a straight-out ritual book, and I'll continue to paste thoughts and feelings into my journal.
Anyway. Was I going somewhere with this? Oh. I think it depends on what's available to you, what you're more comfortable with, and if writing for more than five minutes at a time puts a major crimp in your hand.
I also used to print out some things and tuck them into a trapper keeper. It was the best of both worlds. :)
