I'm completely open-minded on the subject.
Have heard some theories, mostly from those who believe that they are messages from spirit, in code, and we have to use rather complicated mathematical equations to work out what the message is. I think spirit would find an easier way to pass messages?
Just wondered what you all think? If you think spirits or aliens, could you explain why so please? The people I know are so passionate about it, would love to know why!
(Hope this works, first time I've posted a poll!)

It could be anything from aliens to a very creative person and a lawnmower. LOL.

who knows what or who has been creating them.. But most of the ones ive seen pic's of online are beautiful:D its really impressive, some of the patterns that show up, even if they are all a hoax ( ok some are but not all) they are still works of art.

Wouldn't you hope that aliens would be smarter than to draw pictures in fields? Like, they should just mass-email us all or something.

I watched a program on crop circles a few months ago and the hoaxers showed the TV people how they made the ones they made. Can't say who made the others. I'd lean toward aliens. I don't think any spirit would make crop circles... spirit would speak to us in different ways!
My man, on the other hand, is a complete and total alien enthusiast, and he believes that the grays made them!:)

I thought it was Rick and a buddy. He did say somewhere that he was responsible didn't he???? Guess he found the fountain of youth he's been busy over the years!

Thanks for your views, interesting.
I'm still no nearer to knowing what i think, but to be honest i'm not spending too much time on it, haha.
Over here there are Crop Cicle Societies all over the place, all believing that we're receiving messages from spirit. I asked some of their local members them why spirit didn't just contact us in the usual way. They reckon that crop circles will reach a wider range of people than spiritualists or mediums will because not many believe in them Presumably these non-believers will believe in crop circles from spirit though!
They did come up with some very impressive stories (they call them proof) which are difficult to ignore. I don't think i will be convinced though.
Oh well, maybe some things are best left unexplained.

Hmm, I'm not sure if we've ever had any crop circles in Canada. We've probably had a few but I think they'd probably be of the hoax variety.
I've seen some pretty good pictures of crop circles that were indeed hoaxes, and they looked quite convincing! Then I've seen pictures of other crop circles that were laid out in very intricate (sp?) patterns and shapes, and no matter how hard some volunteers tried they were not able to reproduce them.
So what do I think? I just voted for "Don't know" :)

Hey Wyrdsister where are we going next? Just kidding I came back to this forum and you were the last poster. I'm glad this topic came up on the crop circles I've always found them interesting.

The best alien theory I've heard yet was that they're 'kids' from space, having a little harmless fun with the locals here and watching us come up with goofy theories.

Armitage- That's so cute!! and it would make sense, too hehe I can just see it now.
"kuranep? what have you been doing?"

"*looks down at the patterns* at least he's getting more creative about disobaying. . . "

I tend to believe they are alien. What is an alien? Here an alien is someone from another country not another world.

Now, I would really love to meet the Green Man, ha ha. I did mean here as in New Mexico and not USA.
For those of you in the states saying " what is she talking about?"

i honestly think that all crop circles are man made
i saw this show on The learning channel (dont laugh and dont ask) about this group of guys that do it and it was so simple how they did it and it work so well that nothing aside from actually seeing a flying saucer can divert me from it

My theory on crop circles is that it's advanced technology buried deep in the earth. When an an alien ship passes over it, it activates it just long enough to heat it up or set in motion or whatever that makes the earth above it either wilt everything in the same direction, or else moves the earth above it somehow in a way that makes the plants fall over in one direction.
Either that, or it's alien ships landing. (Though how they can land without burning the ground or being seen, I have no idea.)

I voted all a hoax. I've seen several shows that demostrate how even the most complex designs can be hoaxed with pretty simple tools. I've seen absolutely nothing that even remotely hints of alien activity.

I say aliens. Yes there some people who can duplicate some crop circles but there are also crop circles that people cant duplicate and some that can be duplicated cant be duplicated in the same conditions, in the dark and within a certain time frame. Even the ones that have been duplicated havent been done as well as the originals. And what about the ones made in sand and snow? And what about people claiming to feel weird things when they step in the circles? Or the high energy readings? And what about the soil change within a crop circle? Some tests say that there is more magnetic iron compounds in the soil inside the circles than outside.

These are the only people I seen admit to doing them
http://www.circlemakers.org/
But there must be more because 2 people cant create all the circles that appear all over the world.
"No hoaxed crop circle has ever produced the singlemost characteristic associated with the genuine phenomenon: plants whose stems are bent, not broken. Other anomalies include alteration in the crystalline structure of the plants themselves, also unfakable, and alterations of the local electromagnetic field There is the ability of the plants to grow after being laid, indicating they are alive and have not been trampled; possible alterations in soil chemical composition; distorted and more rapidly germinating seeds; and severe loss of groundwater, just to mention a few. "
