I find it nearly impossible to celebrate sabbats directly on the date...unless I am celebrating alone..
Where is everyone else falling in this? I usually hit the Weekend following...unless I am lucky and it falls on a weekend..

For group we usually hit the weekend before or after. Personally sometimes I do a simple acknowledgement (even if it's just to harvest herbs or just to meditate on the holiday) on the same night of the Sabbat too.

We celebrate astrologically, so we don't follow normal "calendric" dates for such.

I usually celebrate the day after or the day before. Between me and my son's busy schedule, I miss the exact day a lot. However, if the Sabbat is also a "common" holiday, i.e. Samhain, I celebrate that day. Same with Yule & Midsummers.

I usually prefer something quiet...light a candle, make myself a cup of herbal tea, & meditate. Sometimes, I put candles all around my garden & dance around. It depends on what I feel like.

Due to a very busy lifestyle I sometimes just acknowledge the day before I retire for the night, then I will bring it up again in my next ritual or magick working. I would love to do it on the exact night all the time but unfortunately it's not always possible.

At our house, we see the Sabbats as a "season". Anytime during the "season" is OK (we usually do it that way for group). We also try to observe the "moment", when possible (that's usually just our household).

I have no problem with the summer or winter sabbats, but i got school every other time and now that our schools on this four block schedule, missing one day this year will be equivalent to missing two days on a normal schedule.it states i our schools code of conduct book that we have a right to miss for a religious holiday, but i've never tried it.maybe once or twice for my birthday.;)

See for me, most Sabbats last more than a day....except maybe Samhain....but like instance Yule. Well Yuletide lasts something like 2 weeks (in my belief system anyhow)....so anytime during those two weeks is fine...though the whole time is considered holy. Know what I mean? Lammas is a pretty much two week period from like Aug. 1 till like Aug. 12...anywhere in there is cool for me. You know, and so on. Some people do it like that, but some people don't.
Depends on what you're comfortable with. I would like to celebrate with others...but it doesn't always work out. But since I see it as a noncalendar date...more astronomical...it can vary aswell....
Whoosh, sorry for the babbling.

Yep, it seems that every sabbat and esbat occurs on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday this year (these are the days I work)!! So I celebrate on the closest weekend before or after. I've just begun to make it an actual full rit (in both my solitary and my group workings), so I have to work with what I've got right now. :)

I usually acknowledge it on the day of... we dress up and wish eachother happy... whatever (and of course Merry Mabon) ... Then the closest day that everyone is available we celebrate.
My friends refer to it as Pagan Standard Time

We try to celebrate the day of, but particularly in the summer it's hard for all members of our circle to get the same time off. We're doing Lammas tonight as Tuesday is the only night off for a couple of our members and we haven't seen them since Solstice. I guess we feel it's more important to have as many members present than it is to adhere to a calendar, lunar, astrological, or Julian. My partner works tonight so we'll do a "family celebration" on the evening of Lammas, which is tomorrow, I guess... in the garden, under the moonlight, hmm.... the ideas are coming to me know....:elf: It does say "all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals", doesn't it?
Merry meet everyone!!!
