You basically stare into them, let your mind focus (or unfocus, as the case may be), and let images come to you... Takes practise, though...

IMHO, and in my personal experience:
Things that reflect, crystal balls, pools of water, even garden gazing balls, seem to put
us into a reflective mood, and more in touch with intuition/subconscious.
My first scrying happened accidentally gazing at my bubbly bathwater as a tiny child.
Later, washing dishes in the sink, with thousands of bubbles (like thousands of teensy "crystal balls") :ghost: :ghost: :ghost: :ghost: often brought on precognitions. (Running dishwashers don't! but I do love the way they free up my time.)
I still love to buy little jars of bubbles:ghost: and little bubble wands! They work as well for me as the crystal ball. And if the scrying doesn't come, at least I had some fun!
For me these things are tools, the scrying is just the opening of the third eye, which is linked to the subconscious mind, which is linked to the wrinkles in space/time.
Use any of these, and do not work at it! Let the rational (work-at-it, figure-it-out!)mind rest, and the intuitive(daydream trance) mind will see. I have never been able to "scry" by trying to do so. Only happens when I am in a "daydreaming" relaxed effortless state of mind, and often when doing some mindless repetitive task, or when relaxing by a still pond or lake. My crystal ball sits on my shelf where I can see it when I am relaxed in the evening, and sometimes it sets me daydreaming/scrying too. :) ;) :ghost: :braindrai :floating:

BTW, IMO the best of "professional scryers" are able to relax into a lucid dream-state while utilizing their "tool" of choice.
Some who have very busy and predominating rational minds "practice" for a long time to get this left-brain state to relax and meditate themselves into trance states so their intuitive minds can "see."
Most women who have the superhighway corpus callosum can cross from left to right fairly easily as soon as they realize where it is they need to go...(Go right-brain! Relax! "daydream" into a trance-like state, and learn to trust it.)

Wow..interesting. Does anyone have a sight where one could learn more? I'm always intrigued by how much I do not know and always thirsty for knowledge.
Peace!
