I am just very curious about this...Can you remember things you blocked out through your dreams? Cause recently I had a dream that seemed so familiar to me, and the thought that it was a repressed memory coming forth just occured to me.

Yes, it is possible for repressed memories to come thru in dreams....but you have to be very careful because dreams can disguise themselves as repressed memories and have you believing things happened that never did.

Oh, yes, as Faeawyn said, it is very, very possible...especially as I feel that most dreams are based on the subconscious level.
Memories that you have locked out from your waking mind basically have free range in the dream world. All thoughts you have ever had or sensations you have ever experienced are stored in the mind through dreams.
For example, the first time you travel by airplane, that very night, whether you remember dreaming of it or not, (as you cannot remember every vision you have during the course of a night) you do dream of it. And as you do so, your mind is sorting out what you have learned from it, organizing the sensations and feelings you had during your flight. See, when dreaming, the mind is most active, not when you are awake...for when you dream, you learn most.
So it is very possible that what you experienced was a repressed memory in dream form since the memory, whatever it may be, was once stored as information in your mind.
Phew...I really went out on a tangent on that one. =) I hope we have helped you!

I know for a fact I have had repressed memories I have blocked out come to me in dreams. Most deal with my father but some are things I would much rather just forget. I also tend to get visions of future events in my dreams. I think this is becaus eit is one the few times I am able to slow my brain and thought patterns down long enough to tap into that power within.
Peace!

Thank you everyone! You have helped. It was just a really disturbing dream that seemed to be triggered by something someone said. They said it in a joking manner and struck a chord in me, and when I had the dream it was just so familiar...
