View Full Version : Odd dream; one for Ourborous?!!

I had a dream last night, another 'odd' one.

The dream takes place inside a small shack made of rough/splintered wooden boards on the shore of a very run down port. It was a muggy sky outside, and dirty brown water. Everything felt dirty. I was inside with 5-6 men, though I was a woman. I am an observer; I watch me in the dream. Me in the dream does not look like me, though I/she does have red hair (as I do now) and I am aware that the woman is 'me' (confused?)

The men were shooting accross the bay and being shot at in return with old guns - those one-shot rifles they used in Napoleonic times. I was not allowed to shoot because I was a girl. Everyone seemed to resent that I was present; I shouldn't have been.

There was one man who I was aware was the 'hero' of the group - more than being their leader, the men's failing morale rested on him. He had been shot and looked very very pale and couldn't hold his gun on his own, though he tried to keep cheery etc to sustain morale.

This part's a bit vague - I think I went to help him hold his gun, and I accidently shot him in the leg *eep*.
No one had time to be mad with me.

There was a knock on the door of the shack, meagre reinforcements they were expecting. I was sent to answer the door. I opened it, and instead of reinforcements someone threw in some sort of explosive. I grabbed it and tried to throw it out but I couldn't, so I just had to run back to the men and leave it (luckily it wasn't too big I guess!).

Scene Change: the fighting has ended, and I'm in big trouble. I watch people pick me up (screaming and crying hysterically) and carry me into a room where all the dead are kept. I watch as they very carefully and with great respect lift the dead body of my sister slightly and move her over (revealing a gun-shot-wound and a blood stain on the blanket beneath her body) and I am led next to her body. They clean and wrap me as if they are preparing a corpse, all the time I am crying and screaming though I do not try to break free. I am left on the 'shelf' with me sister in the room of dead, and the dream ends as the door is closed and I hear the sounds of the key turning in the lock through the dark.

I guess I got blamed for the bad ending of the battle, though that's assumed as I never saw the end of the fight.

Any thoughts would be appreciated; I'm really bad at dream interpretation!

I would like to pretend that I'd have an intelligent input here but I am clutching at straws. :hehehehe:
The only thing that really stands out to me is how you seem to be a total outsider in your dream on several levels. You are eager to be a participant, to be taken seriously but you can't get in no matter what you try. Does that relate to something going on in your life right now?

When you were left "on the shelf" with your dead sister, how did that make you feel? You tell it so matter-of-factly.

I know what you mean about being an outsider in your own dream, I have that too. It's as if I am in a film and watching what takes place. I am a behind-the-scenes kind of person in real life too so it makes sense to me.

That's the thing, I didn't 'feel' anything, because I was merely watching without experiencing any of the emotions that the me in the dream felt. She/I was terrified but I guess she felt they were justified else she'd have fought back and ran away. It was a cruel punishment, to be left to die like that, and she was very very upset.

I dont think it applies to my life in that way, but I shall have a think on it - maybe I just don't realise :)

PS I should add that its not unusual for me to not take part in my dreams, many I have I am just an observer, some dont even include me in them at all, they just watch other people :)

Well, I'm not exactly Ouroboros, but I can take a stab at it. ;)

Mostly, Macha, the feeling I get from this dream is personal protection. It seems almost as though recently you have been keeping others at bay from yourself, perhaps even acting unlike yourself to attain the sense of independence. The men, I feel, are the alter ego of yourself, and the force that drives you to continue to hold up your front around others. What is interesting is that, while attempting to truly help the leader, you shot his leg by accident. This is what I can see as your fear of all of self-confidence breaking down.

Have you been in an argument with someone as of late? And did it not turn out the way you planned, ending in you quietly allowing them to "win" and feeling dejected by it? I ask this because of the urgency of the situation, and usually a war-like atmosphere can represent an anger you may have with another.

But more so, I believe that you have been putting up a face, possibly for protection and fear. You haven't really let down your guard, and your subconscious is reflecting that to you.

The second part of your dream seems like the most vivid. Now, I do not know you on a personal level, but I do assume that your relationship with your sister can be a troubled one at times, (perhaps the earlier mentioned argument was with her even) and to see her dead may be your desire to start over with her, or level the slate. If this is not having to do with her directly, she may be the representation of the person, or people, you are trying to keep yourself from. She may even symbolize your social fear all together, and that you see her dead (interestingly enough with the same wound you accidentally inflicted on your "leader") may represent your wish to eventually open up once more...as death often means change or starting over.

I wish you luck! Good day to you, Macha. :)

That seems right on, thinking about it.
I dont see my sister much, or even think about her much really, but we dont get on.
I shan't go into the rest of it, but I think youre right. You've given me much to ponder, thankyou!! :hugz:

Aww, shucks. :heyalove:

I'm glad I could help you, Macha! It's only a little gift, but it makes me happy to have helped you in some way.

Giving me karma and everything...you're so sweet. :hugz: I would poke you back but my karmalizer's gone "poof". *Sniff*
