Black Cats in Dream

Hi! I have an unusual dream to post. My friend had this dream last night, and was rather perturbed by it, although I think it may have been a GOOD kind of dream.

She had just dozed off on the couch about 2:15 AM. She immediately started dreaming, but the dream seemed like it was actually happening, as it seemed so vivid and real. She dreamed she was lying on the couch when she heard the screen in the window behind her being cut. In the dream, she tried to wake her teenage son up (who was actually asleep on the other couch), but was so paralyzed by fear she couldn't move and felt a heavy pressure on her chest. Finally, she was able to "squeak" as she put it, and then sat up (still in the dream) to see a man or a dark figure running off. She had the impression that the sound she made scared him off. Suddenly, there was a humongous dark, dark black cat on the couch beside her, purring and rubbing up against her. She said it was so big it wouldn't fit on her lap. In the dream, she stroked the cat, then turned it over and there was a pure black baby kitten on the cats stomach, so my friend held the kitten so it could nurse, and then she woke up. She really wants to know what this dream means. I told her I thought the cat was protecting her, and to possibly watch for a cat to come into her life, a stray maybe, and that if one does, to keep it. As for the figure running off, I don't know, unless the cat was sent to scare him off...any ideas? :colorful:

i had a dream about two huge black cats yesterday morning. but the ones in my dream werent so friendly... but now im thinking maybe thats my fault! oops, i guess i should have just tried to pet them, but they seriously felt like they wanted to eat me so it didnt feel like such a good idea at the time

I believe your friends dream had to do with being maturnal. I get a very strong feeling of this. The large cat and the running male, I believe, are one in the same...basically representing the disire to have a child, but maybe there is a small fear connected.

The large cat greatly seems to represent this desire, since past the fear, the feline is welcoming, warm and reassuring. It is the feeling that many women experience when thinking about having a baby.

And last of all, is the little kitten which, I feel, is the symbol of the wanted baby entirely. But overall, it seems to me like a sweet and longing dream for the sensation of closeness with another, and possibly, past everything, the yearning for a child.
