so... I had this dream last night, I just remember one part of it but I thought that it was kinda odd and figured I'd put it out there and see if anyone had any ideas on what it could mean.

The only part I remember was going through a brown box that had all of these collectable, breakable things in it. They were all wrapped up to protect them, but as I started unwrapping them, I was finding that all of them were broken in one way or another. I remeber there was a glass candle, an old bottle, a ceramic bell, and a picture frame. Though I didn't recognise any of the things, I knew that they all had sentimental reasons for me keeping them.

Any thoughts?

So you did keep them in the dream? What did you do with them?

I don't know. My husband woke me up as I was reaching the end of the box. But I remember getting more and more frantic as I was discovering more and more of the things broken.

Dreams such as these usually involve close friends or family. A friend of mine the other day explained a dream to me very much like this one, but instead of a box and fragile objects, hers involved a fish tank and fish. :)

The box and the paper that surrounds these objects are the symbol of your protective nature. The collectables themselves are representing people most close to you, possibly good friends, family members or even children, if you have your own or take care of others. Basically, what your subconscious is reflecting back to you is your great want to protect and shelter...though, as you uncover these objects, you come to find that they, despite the effort, have broken anyway, or, to relate to waking life, have found their own path past the one having had been offered.

What I feel is that this is a stress dream relating to your fear of a loved one becoming hurt or becoming very independent. Often, mothers will have these dreams when their children grow into teenagers...or when one is having difficulty in a leadership position. Your sleeping mind is expressing your desire to protect when you feel as though it is perhaps having no effect on the overall outcome.

This is usually a dream that comes before acceptance...though it can be very difficult, I know. I do wish you the best. :hugz:

could there be an alternate interpitation? I ask because I'm not the kind of person to promote dependence or have a problem with people picking their paths.

I do have children. Ages 9,7, and 16 months, but I've always allowed them to pick their own paths and express their own thoughts, even if it does annoy the hell out of me at times. I'm constantly telling them to do and think for themselves. I've always thought of myself as a huge promoter of indepence.

I'll definately look into the things that I may be overprotective of, I'm sure the list can't be that long :D

Thanks

Hmm, well, every case is different. :) But perhaps you have been worried about your children recently. Have they been through anything difficult as of late and you held a desire to comfort them through it? I just can't get away from the feeling that this dream was truly one about your protection of your children.
